Strabismus

Strabismus – General Information

Strabismus is a medical term for a condition that affects the patient’s vision and can be called by various names. The most common names can include cross eyed, cockeye, wall eyed, hererotropia or deviating eye. This kind of medical condition is characterized by the inability of the patient’s eyes to align properly under normal conditions, causing one eye to misalign in relation to the other when is focusing on a certain object. There are cases in which both eyes can not focus on the same direction, at the same time and at the same point. There are two forms of Strabismus that differ depending on the turning of the patient’s eyes. If the eyes are turned in, toward the patient’s nose, it is called esotropic form, and if the eyes are turned out, away from the patient’s nose, it is called esotropic form. There are cases in which one eye is turned upward or downward in relation to the other eye, and is called hypertropic form of the disease. There are more severe cases in which the patient’s eye can turn in several directions. This kind of medical condition usually affects young patients, during childhood, especially after birth. Strabismus develops slowly and the first sign of it is double vision, caused by the misalignment of the eye in relation to the other eye. The double vision condition is generally called amblyopia and if it is not treated early or not treated at all it can lead to suppression or loss of vision.

Strabismus – Symptoms

Usually, Strabismus develops immediately after birth, when newborns start to present crossed eye due to lack of developed vision. In normally, healthy patients this manifestation usually goes away by itself as the child grows. But if the condition does not go away after a period of time, the doctor has to perform certain vision tests. It is very important to diagnose the condition in an early stage, because the treatment is more efficient. If the patient does not receive treatment, he can experience blurry or double vision. These manifestations are usually the first signs of the disease, especially when the patient’s eyes do not look together to the same object. In most cases, the disease is caused by the unequal pulling of muscles on one side of the patient’s eye or even paralysis of these muscles. There are cases in which the child presents a condition called far sight and trying to compensate it, he starts to develop the accommodative form of the disease. The most common signs and symptoms of Strabismus can include turning of the eyes either toward the nose or outward the nose, and generally the misalignment of one eye in relation to the other eye. It is very important for the parent to take the child to an eye professional for testing if he presents a persistent crossed or wall eyes condition, which usually lasts for at least four months. An early treatment of Strabismus is very important, because if it is not performed the patient can be susceptible to develop tumors.

Strabismus – Treatment

In treating Strabismus, there are three major treatment options, which can be applied differently depending on the severity of the condition, and can include orthiptics, vision therapy and eye surgery. Orthoptics therapy is generally characterized by muscle training programs applied by skilled doctors, also known as orthoptists and optometrists. The term of orthoptics dates from the 50s and means straightening of the eyes, and is usually performed as a cosmetic procedure to straighten the patient’s eyes. This kind of procedure only treats muscle problems regarding their strength not the neurological and visual motor dysfunctions, and that is why the second major treatment option is vision therapy. This type of procedure is an individualized, supervised, nonsurgical treatment trial, applied to correct the patient’s eyes, especially their movements and visual motor issues.

The visual therapy usually is applied following certain steps, to successfully treat Strabismus and can include eye alignment, eye teaming, eye focusing abilities, eye movements and visual processing. These procedures can also be applied to control the condition, in order to apply other treatment options. In most cases, doctors use a specialized computer and optical devices such as therapeutic lenses, prisms and filter to increase the eye’s visual motor skills and endurance. After most of the steps have been accomplished, the patient’s new visual skills are reinforced and are made automatic through repetition and integration with other motor and cognitive skills. There are more severe cases in which the vision therapy has to train and rehabilitate the patients eye brain connections involved in vision. By doing this, the doctor can treat the whole visual motor system in addition to the patient’s reflexive behavior, leading to a prolonged cure.

In treating Strabismus, a very important fact is the patient’s age, because older children are generally more cooperative, achieving greater benefits from the procedures. Another way to treat Strabismus is the surgical approach. Generally, the patient’s brain directs and controls the eyes and eye muscles, and is very important to know that eye surgery is not similar to brain surgery. The eye surgery consists in cutting and moving the patient’s eye muscles. That is why there are cases in which the procedure must be applied repeatedly, so that the patient’s eye muscles are always perfectly aligned. Sometimes, the surgical procedure is not applied for cosmetic reasons, but only for correcting any deviation. It is very important that before applying the surgical procedure, the doctor determines exactly if it is being recommended for cosmetic reasons only. It is also important for the patient to know for sure what are the benefits and risks of undergoing this procedure. After the surgery has been done, there are several medicines that can be administered to control the patient’s medical status and can include Phenytoin, Phenobarbital, Carbamazepine and Valproic acid. If the patient does not respond to the available treatment for Strabismus, he can develop serious complications that can threat his or her life.

The botox from this website is not cheap, but i have ordered it elsewhere before and it did not provide the same results as the one here, dont be scammed by the $100 botox brands elsewhere, they are cheap versions and if you know anything about botox you get what you pay for. I have been using this product for years now and i finally found a quality source i can trust.

The live chat support is great - but starting out with the contact via email was so easy. I did have a bit of a delay once in receiving the drugs, but mostly it works well. I had some trouble after receiving with my order and they assisted me every step of the way. They took all the relevant information to investigate on my concern. I did have a bit of a delay once in waiting for their pharmacy to get back to them with an update.I have been notified as soon as they got information and they apologize for the inconvenience.
They informed me that my Escrow account has been credited by the full amount which I could use immediately on a purchase! I fully trust Pharmacy Escrow and I will place my future order with PharmacyEscrow.com.
