Atrophic Urethritis – Symptoms

Atrophic Urethritis – Treatment

In what concerns the surgical care, in the past it consisted of urethral dilatation, a technique which proved to be quite useful, but nowadays doctors prefer mild electrical stimulation performed in the sacral area. These impulses provide somatic nerve supply in the gastrointestinal tract and the pelvic floor. In what concerns the first measures which must be taken, the women who think they suffer from Atrophic Urethritis should firstly visit a gynecologist and then an urologist, in order to determine exactly the cause of the symptoms. After that, she may be advised to consult a pain-control specialist or a psychiatrist for helping her to learn how to deal with the pain. The next doctor she must visit is a neurologist, who will answer any question about a previous neurological problem.  The next step of the treatment in the case of Atrophic Urethritis is the diet which the doctor will prescribe you, considering the evolution of your problem. The sufferer will be advised to avoid the liquids and foods which act as irritants. In order to do this, the patient must avoid the following products:

• Condiments: capers, cocktail sauce, barbecue sauce, cranberry sauce, hot pepper sauce, mustard, relishes, pickles, ketchup, salsa, tartar sauce, roasted peppers, vinegar
• Fruits: bananas, grapes, apples, lemons, nectarines, star fruits, mangos, cantaloupe, pineapple, peaches, pears, tomatoes, oranges, plums, limes
• Juices: cranberry juice, apple juice, mixed fruit juice, pineapple juice, tamarind juice, pear juice, prune juice, mango juice, tomato juice, papaya juice, guava juice, lemonade
• Salad dressings: Caesar, Italian, vinaigrette, ranch, bleu cheese, honey mustard, French, poppy seed, thousand island
• Snacks: chocolate, spicy nachos, spicy chips, applesauce, gelatin, spicy crackers
• Vegetables: cabbage, peppers, beets, artichokes.
• Miscellaneous foods: pizza sauce, tomato sauce, olive oil, marinara sauce, chili.

The patient who is diagnosed with Atrophic Urethritis is also advised to increase the quantity of fluids intake, as he may experience dehydration. The sufferer should also focus on a diet with plenty of vegetables and fruits.
In order to minimize the symptoms and the pain associated with Atrophic Urethritis, the sufferer should try to organize his schedule in order to have time to exercise and to attend massage programs, which have a great influence on the further evolution of the disease.
