Cyclitis General Information

Most physicians from all around the world (but especially eye doctors) are very familiar with Cyclitis, as, unfortunately, more and more patients start to suffer from this particular medical condition. It is known that this medical issue triggers the abnormal inflammation of the patient’s eyes’ ciliary body. This medical condition affects patients in various ways, and this is why scientists have managed to determine several forms of this disease (that cause different symptoms and that require a specific therapy).

Among on of the various forms of Cyclitis, lies Heterochromic-Cyclitis. This medical condition is represented by a rare inflammation that affects the eye’s colored tissue (the eye’s ciliary body and the eye’s iris). Even if the inflammation is not a severe one, it can trigger several serious and dangerous symptoms (adverse reactions) which might severely worsen the patient’s medical condition. This type of medical condition generally affects patients who are over 40 years old. It is known that this medical issue generally has an insidious onset. Most patients who develop this eye medical illness remain unaware of their disorder until their vision starts to gradually decrease (due to the increased opacity of the vitreous).

Another form of this medical condition is called Iridocyclitis. This medical issue is represented by the chronic or by the acute inflammation of the patient’s ciliary body (a part of the patient’s eye). Cyclitis Symptoms

However, your eye doctor will check to see if you have some of this disease’s symptoms, like: atrophic iris (that generally causes differently colorations); anterior chamber cells that fail to properly respond to stimuli (like steroid drops for example); posterior cataract (the sub-capsular form of this medical condition); fine blood vessels that are found at the patient’s corneal angle and / or iris (they are called Amsler vessels); keratic precipitates (stellate deposits) that appear over the patient’s whole corneal endothelium; retinal lesions (this medical symptom is experienced by most of the patients who suffer from this medical condition, as 65 out of 100 patients have it); posterior synechiae;
A special form of this medical condition (that is known as Iridocyclitis) triggers other symptoms, apart from those listed above. They generally include the following: tearing eyes, increased eye sensitivity to direct sunlight, red eyes, eye pain, discolored iris, and so on.

Cyclitis Treatment

After scientists from all over the world have deeply studied this medical condition (Cyclitis) and the ways in which it affects the average patient (this includes the symptoms that it triggers), some medical products that are available in most pharmacies have proved to be efficient, or at least helpful, in the case of patients who suffer from this particular medical issue. The most commonly encountered complications include abnormally high levels of intra-ocular eye pressure (which can lately develop into a severe form of Glaucoma), cataract, and so on. This is one of the reasons for which the proper prophylaxis for most patients who suffer from Cyclitis aims not only to effectively reduce the intra-ocular pressure, but also to fight the inflammation of the eye. The most popular medicines that are employed in such treatments include: pupil-dilating drops, steroids and other medical eye drops. Even if this medical issue is known to sometimes present occasional recurrences, these crises are bound to settle down sooner or later (depending on the patient’s general health condition, on the type of therapy that he or she has followed, and so on).
