Oligospermia – General Information

Oligospermia (also known as Oligozoospermia) is one of the medical symptoms of low sperm count which affects only the men. The men who are suffering from this medical condition usually have less than 20 millions of spermatozoa per ml of sperm. Oligospermia has many different causes because many medical conditions may reduce the concentration of the sperm and its effects may be temporary or permanent. One of the causes of this medical condition is the Y chromosome microdeletion (also known as YCM) which is a family of genetic disorders which appears as a result of a missing gene in the Y chromosome. The majorities of the men who have YCM are asymptomatic and have normal lives, but have a reduced fertility. Other causes of the Oligospermia include the following: working in high temperature zones, varicocele and the chronic infections in the urinary tract may also lead to the appearance of this medical condition, isolated gonadotropin deficiency, cushing syndrome, hyperprolactinemia, hemochromatosis, Klinefelter syndrome, XX male syndrome, FSH deficiency, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, vitamin C, selenium, zinc and folate deficiencies. Also the men who are smoking, who consume alcohol, are obese or are under chemotherapy treatment may have this medical condition. Other factors include the psychological ones such as mental stress, depression and anxiety. In the cases of temporarily reduced sperm counts the factors which lead to it are: high fever and temperatures, certain drugs and poisons, smoking, excessive alcohol intake, and certain severe illnesses. In the cases of permanent reduced sperm counts the factors are: varicose veins around the testicles, inflammation of the testicles, radiation exposure and radiotherapy.

Oligospermia – Symptoms

It is well known the fact that any medical disorder (including Oligospermia) can trigger a variety of symptoms. Here is a list of the most common symptoms that a person who suffers from Oligospermia, may experience, although each individual experiences them differently. In the cases in which the patients have vitamin C deficiency as one of the underlying cause, they may experience: easy bruising, swollen and painful joints, nosebleeds, frequent infections, anemia (this includes: weakness, tiredness, paleness), slow healing of the wounds and fatigue. The persons who have XX male syndrome will experience: small testicles, gynecomastia, and sterility. Many men who suffer from this medical condition usually have effeminate characteristics. The persons who have zinc deficiencies have hypogonadism. The men who suffer from isolated gonadotropin deficiencies are usually infertile, as well as those who have FSH deficiencies and those who have hyperprolactinemia. The men suffering from hemochromatosis develop testicular atrophy as a result of the pituitary gland failure and abdominal pain. The men who have been diagnosed with the Klinefelter syndrome have small and firm testicles, small penis, sexual problems and gynecomastia (meaning the enlargement of the breasts).

Oligospermia – Treatment

There is no actual cure for the men who are suffering from Oligospermia, but the homeopathic medicine seems to be the most effective therapy in the persons suffering from this medical condition and from low sperm motility, low sperm volume, abnormal sperm cell morphology, anti sperm antibodies, and semen viscosity. The homeopathic treatments correct the spermatogenesis by making harmony in the hormones. The homeopathic treatment’s advantages are the followings: it acts fast and in a safe way from all other treatments available in nowadays and has no side effects.
