Gonal F Information

Gonal F os indicated for - the treatment of anovulatory infertility in women who have been unresponsive to clomiphene citrate or where clomiphene citrate is contraindicated. It is also indicated for controlled ovarian hyperstimulation in women undergoing assisted reproductive technologies. GONAL-f is indicated with concomitant human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) therapy for the stimulation of spermatogenesis in gonadotrophin-deficient men in whom hCG alone is ineffective. Follitropin alfa is a hormone used to treat fertility problems. It is used in combination with another hormone (hCG) to stimulate the ovaries in women or used alone to stimulate sperm production in men, depending on the type of fertility problem being treated by your doctor.

Gonal F Warnings

Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: abnormal vaginal bleeding, thyroid or adrenal gland problems, cancer/tumors or ovarian cysts/enlargement, any other fertility problems, any allergies you may have. Multiple births may occur as a result of this therapy. This medication must not be used during pregnancy. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use especially of: other hormone medication (e.g., estrogens, progesterones). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Gonal F Side Effects

The common side effects of Gonal F are dizziness, fever, chills; redness, swelling, itching, or pain at the injection site; nausea, headache, breast tenderness, vaginal breakthrough bleeding in women, or acne or tiredness in men may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: bloating, muscle pain, joint pain, swelling or pain in the arms or legs, stomach pain, unusual weight gain for women, breast pain or swelling in men. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unusually fast heartbeat, trouble breathing.

Gonal F Overdose

The effects of an overdose of GONAL-f are unknown, nevertheless, one could expect ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome to occur Symptoms of overdose may include severe stomach pain or swelling, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, severe headache, shortness of breath, and weakness. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Gonal F Usage guidelines

Gonal F Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. Before mixing, the Gonal F powder may be stored refrigerated or at room temperature between 36 and 77 degrees F (2 to 25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Use immediately after mixing. Discard any unused portion of the ampule. For multi-dose vials: Before mixing, the powder may be stored refrigerated or at room temperature 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Following mixing, the multi-dose vials should be stored refrigerated between 36 to 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C). Protect from light. Discard unused solution after 28 days
