Codalax Information

Codalax may only be used for the prevention or treatment of constipation in the terminally ill. This medicine contains two active ingredients, dantron and poloxamer 188. The combination is known as co-danthramer and is used for relieving constipation in people who are terminally ill.

Codalax Warning

This medicine may cause the skin around your bottom or your urine to turn pink or red. To be used with caution in incontinence. It is not to be used in - Acute abdominal pain; Blockage of the gut (intestinal obstruction); Breastfeeding; Infants in nappies; Pregnancy. This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. Certain medicines should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. This medication may cause your urine to be coloured. There are no significant interactions with this medicine.

Strong preparations of co-danthramer are not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
