Ceftin (a drug which is commonly known as Cefuroxime) belongs to a class of medicines called cephalosporin which helps fight several types of bacteria in the patient’s body.

Pregnant woman or women who intend to get pregnant in the future should not start a treatment with Ceftin without consulting with their doctor. Ceftin Intake Guidelines

Ceftin Overdose

Ceftin Missed Dose

• Itching
• Redness
• Hives
• Bloody, tarry and black stools
• Mucus in the stool
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Abnormal bleeding or bruising

Stop your Ceftin treatment if you are experiencing any of these side effects.
Ceftin can also lead to some other side effects which are far less serious:

• Mild diarrhea or nausea
• Mouth yeast infection
• Vagina yeast infection

If you are experiencing any of these side effects you may continue your treatment with Cefuroxime but inform you doctor of the inconveniences.

Ceftin Drug Reactions

Ceftin can react with acid reducers (for one’s stomach) and antacids (cimetidine, ranitidine, famotidine and nizatidine). Avoid taking these medicines without your physician’s consent.
Tell your physician if you are following a treatment with any of these drugs before starting a Ceftin treatment because your physician might advise you not to start a treatment with this drug or he might want to monitor your treatment:

• Probenecid
• Warfarin
• Antibiotics
• Loop diuretic

There are other drugs which can also interact with Ceftin (over the counter drugs like some vitamins, herbal products and minerals). Avoid taking them during your treatment with Ceftin.
