Climara Patch is a form of estrogen, a female sex hormone that is essential for various processes occurring within the human body.

Climara Patch Indications

Climara Patch is used to treat symptoms of menopause, which includes the following:

Climara Patch Warnings

Climara Patch is not advisable if you have any of the following conditions:

• Circulation, bleeding, or blood-clotting disorder
• Undiagnosed, abnormal vaginal bleeding
• A history of stroke or heart attack
• High levels of cholesterol or triglycerides in the blood
• Liver disease
• Kidney disease
• Asthma
• Epilepsy
• Migraines
• Diabetes
• Depression
• Gallbladder disease
• Uterine fibroids
• Hysterectomy

Climara Patch may cause stroke with prolonged use. Discuss this possibility with your doctor.

This drug belongs to the FDA pregnancy Category X, which means that it could potentially harm an unborn baby. Do not take this drug without your doctor’s consent if you are pregnant.

Climara Patch also passes into breast milk and may decrease milk production. Do not take this drug without your doctor’s approval if you are nursing an infant.

Climara Patch Intake Guidelines

This drug should be taken in exactly as directed by your doctor. If there are matters that you do not understand, refer to your doctor, nurse or a pharmacist and ask him or her to explain those matters to you.

This drug may be in oral, injection or vaginal ring form. Do not take in more or less than your doctor has advised and follow the instructions directed on the package insert and your doctor’s instructions.

Dosage of Climara Patch should be obtained from your doctor. Dosage may vary from person to person with regards to a variety of factors, which include condition of the patients, age and others.

Do not take more or less of this drug than your doctor has instructed so as not to alter the effects of this drug and to prevent overdose.

Climara Patch Overdose

Do not take in more of this drug than what your doctor has instructed. Symptoms of overdose of this drug include the following:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Breakthrough bleeding

You may experience these symptoms if you have taken in more than you should. Inform and your doctor and seek immediate medical attention or call poison control.

Climara Patch Missed Dose

Doses of Climara Patch should not be missed. If a dose is missed, however, take it as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and take the subsequent dose according to schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medication unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.

Climara Patch Side Effects

Climara Patch may have any of the following serious side effects and allergic reactions:

• Difficulty in breathing
• Closing of the throat
• Swelling of the lips, face and tongue
• Hives
• Shortness of breath
• Painful, red or swollen leg
• Pain, swelling of tenderness in the abdomen
• Severe headache, nausea and vomiting
• Dizziness, faintness or changes in vision or speech
• Jaundice
• Lump in the breast

If you experience any of the preceding symptoms, discontinue using Climara Patch and seek immediate medical attention. Inform your doctor afterwards.

Climara Patch may also have less serious side effects that are more likely to occur. They include:

• Decreased appetite, nausea and vomiting
• Swollen and tender breasts
• Acne
• Decreased libido
• migraine headaches and dizziness
• Water retention
• Problems with wearing contact lenses
• Depression
• Changes in menstrual cycle and breakthrough bleeding

If you experience any of the preceding symptoms, continue using the product but inform your doctor immediately.

Other side effects may also occur when you take Climara Patch. Inform your doctor if you experience anything unusual while or after taking this drug.

Climara Patch Drug Reactions

Inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following drugs before taking Climara Patch:

• Anticoagulant
• Thyroid medication
• Diabetes medication
• Tamoxifen
• Didanosine
• Phenytoin
• Carbamazepine
• Phenobarbital
• Primidone
• Rifampin

You may not be able to take Climara Patch, may need dosage adjustments or may need special monitoring while taking this drug if you are taking any of the preceding medications.

Other drugs may also interact with Climara Patch. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medications other than this drug including over the counter prescriptions such as vitamins, minerals or herbal products.
