Detrol Information

Detrol is an overactive bladder medication and relieves the spasms of the bladder. Detrol is used to treat the symptoms of an overactive bladder such as urinary frequency, urinary urgency, and urinary incontinence .Detrol may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Detrol Warning

Do not take Detrol if you have a blockage of the urinary tract which leads to difficulty in urinating or a blockage in the intestines. Before taking Detrol, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease or glaucoma. You may not be able to take Detrol or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring if you have any of these conditions.

Detrol is a FDA pregnancy category C drug. It is not known whether Detrol will be harmful to an unborn baby. However, do not buy Detrol online or take the drug without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.

• Antidepressants
• Alcohol
• Antihistamines
• Sedatives (used to treat insomnia)
• Pain relievers
• Anxiety medicines
• Muscle relaxants

Inform your doctor of all medicines you are taking and do not take any additional medicines unless your doctor approves it. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Detrol. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, including herbal products which may interact with this overactive bladder medication.

Detrol Side effects

If you experience any of the following allergic reactions, stop taking Detrol and seek emergency medical attention:

• Difficulty breathing
• Closing of your throat
• Swelling of your lips, tongue, or face
• Hives

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur with this bladder medication. Continue to take Detrol and talk to your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms:

• Dry mouth
• Dryness of the eyes
• Blurred vision or large pupils
• Upset stomach
• Headache
• Constipation
• Difficulty urinating
• Drowsiness
• Dizziness

Side effects other than those listed may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

Detrol Overdose

Seek emergency medical attention if you suspect that you have overdosed on this overactive bladder medication. Symptoms of a Detrol overdose are not specifically known but might include the following:

• Restlessness
• Tremors
• Irritability
• Seizures
• Delirium
• Hallucinations
• Flushing
• Fever
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Tachycardia
• Possible coma

Detrol Usage guidelines

Take Detrol exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water. Do not crush, chew or open the long-acting capsules (Detrol LA). Swallow it whole. It is specially formulated to slowly release the medication in your body. Do not take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. If your symptoms are not being treated, notify your doctor and stop taking the medication. Detrol should be stored at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
