Motilium Information

Motilium is a popular medicine that is known to increase the contractions or movements of the stomach and bowel. This drug is used in the treatment of vomiting or nausea (these might be caused by medicines that are meant to treat Parkinson’s disease). This drug is only given under a physician’s supervision.

Motilium Indications

Motilium is a medicine that is widely prescribed in the treatment of nausea and vomiting (these conditions might be caused by other medicines). However, this drug can also serve some other purposes that have not been listed here.

Motilium Warnings

Before you start using Motilium you should carefully consider the following:

Allergies— Alert your personal doctor if you are suffering from allergic reactions to this drug or to any other substances (foods, dyes, preservatives, other medicines, etc).

Pregnancy— This medicine has not been tested on pregnant women. In animal studies, this medicine has not harmfully affected the fetus.

Breast-feeding— This medicine’s main ingredients are able to pass into breast milk, but it has not been clearly determined whether this could harm a nursing infant or not. Ask your personal physician if you may start taking this medicine if you are breastfeeding an infant.

Children— This drug has not been tested on children. Ask a pediatrician if it is safe to give this medicine to a child.

Older adults— Like many other medicines, Motilium has not been tested on elderly patients. Therefore, it is not known whether a treatment with this drug could affect an older patient in a different way than it affects a younger adult.

Other medical problems— If you are suffering from other medical conditions, you might not be allowed to start taking this medicine, or you might have to take a lower dose of Motilium. Make sure that your physician if aware of all the diseases that you have, especially the following:

Bowel disorders or stomach bleeding
Liver disease
Pituitary (brain) tumor
Medicine sensitivity to any of this drug’s ingredients

Motilium Intake Guidelines

Follow each and every one of the advices and recommendations that your personal doctor has given you regarding your treatment with Motilium (do not deviate from any of them). If you still have some other questions, you ought to ask your doctor, a pharmacist or a nurse. You should carefully read the instructions that are written on the drug’s label.

Motilium Dosage

Ask your doctor to calculate the dose of Motilium that should suit you best. You can also rely on the information that should be contained by the medicine’s label. The correct dosage sometimes varies from one person to another, as it depends on a couple of factors (among them: body weight, the disorder’s severity, etc). Do not change the dose that you have been prescribed by your personal doctor without your physician’s consent.
We give you here the average doses of Motilium. However, if your physician has prescribed you to take this drug in a different way, you should stick to his or her instructions.

If you are taking this medicine to treat of gastrointestinal motility diseases:

Adults—10 milligrams (mg) that should be taken from three to four times per day. Some patients sometimes require higher doses than this one (up to 20 mg) that are taken from three to four times per day.

If you are taking this medicine to treat vomiting and nausea:

Adults—about 20 milligrams (mg) that should be taken from three to four times per day.

Motilium Overdose

If you think that you have taken a much larger dose than the one that you have been prescribed by your personal physician, you should seek medical care at once. Contact your local poison control centre and alert your personal doctor. Rush to the nearest emergency room if necessary. We do not have any information regarding the possible side effects that could be triggered by an overdose with Motilium.

Motilium Missed Dose

Motilium should be taken in on a regular basis (if possible, at the same time each day). If you are following a treatment with this drug, you should try not to miss any of your prescribed doses. However, if you happen to miss one, it is recommended that you should apply it as soon as you recall and continue with your regular schedule. You should not apply a double dose of this medicine unless you are instructed by your personal physician to do so (this increases the risk of developing overdose).

Motilium Side Effects

You should stop your treatment with this medicine and alert your personal physician as soon as possible if you experience any of these severe side effects: mouth swelling, loss of control and balance, fast, pounding or irregular heartbeat, etc.
Other side effects may also occur when you take Motilium. You should inform your personal physician immediately if you experience anything unusual or bothersome while taking or shortly after finishing a treatment with this drug.

Motilium Drug Reactions

During your treatment with Motilium you should avoid taking any other medicines without your personal physician’s approval, even if they are simple cold or cough medicines, herbal products or other over the counter drugs. Some medicines are known to harmfully interact with Motilium (such as Monoamide oxidase inhibitors – furazolidone, henelzine, procarbazine, selegilene, etc).

I received the medication within 3 weeks, as promised. The company called to make sure I had all my questions answered and to give a contact number if I experienced difficulties with the order. The reason I am rating this 4 stars is because the medication came with no information at all...no dosage, side effects, cautions, etc. I had to call my specialist in America for this information (which really was no problem, just a hassle). The medication is being taken to help with moderate gastro paresis and is working well! I have been taking the medication 3-4 times daily before meals for 2 weeks.

I am not very good with working on the computer but your staff on the phone were helpful in walking me through the steps. I also liked your chat room where you can have questions answered.
