Etibi Information

Etibi is an oral prescription that is used along with other drugs to primarily treat tuberculosis, which is a disease of the lungs.

Etibi Indications

Etibi is primarily used in treating the condition known as tuberculosis. It may also be used for purposes other than those indicated here.

Etibi Warnings

Etibi may not be advisable if you have any of the following conditions:

• Gouty Arthritis
• Kidney disease
• Optic neuritis

You may not be able to use this drug, may need dosage adjustments, or may need special monitoring while using this medication if you have any of the conditions mentioned above.

Do not use this drug without your doctor’s permission if you have any known allergies to Etibi’s main component ethambutol or other substances such as dyes or preservatives.

Etibi is not known to cause any birth defects in humans but has been proven to cause birth defects in animals. Do not take this drug without your doctor’s consent if you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant during treatment. This drug is also known to pass into breast milk though it is not known to cause defects in nursing infants.

Etibi Intake Guidelines

Do not use more of this drug than what your doctor has instructed. Inform and your doctor and seek immediate medical attention or call poison control if you suspect overdose.

Etibi Missed Dose

It is highly essential not to miss a dose of this drug. If a dose is missed, however, take it as soon as remembered and take the subsequent dose according to your schedule. Do not take double doses of this drug unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

Etibi Side Effects

Etibi may have any of the following serious side effects:

• Chills
• pain and swelling of joints
• especially big toe, ankle, or knee
• tense, hot skin over affected joints
• Blurred vision
• eye pain
• red-green color blindness
• any loss of vision
• fever
• joint pain
• numbness, tingling, burning pain, or weakness in hands or feet
• skin rash

If you experience any of the preceding symptoms, discontinue using Etibi and seek immediate medical attention. Inform your doctor afterwards.

Etibi may also have less serious side effects that are more likely to occur. They include:

• Abdominal pain
• Confusion
• Headache
• loss of appetite
• nausea and vomiting

These are not serious side effects and may go away with time. If you experience any of them, continue using the product but inform your doctor.

Other drugs may interact with Etibi. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medications other than this drug including over the counter prescriptions such as vitamins, minerals or herbal products.
