Flurbiprofen belongs to the class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Flurbiprofen is an eyedrop that reduces pain and inflammation in the eyes.

Flurbiprofen Indications

Flurbiprofen is mainly used to prevent pupil constriction during eye surgery. It is also used to treat swelling and redness caused by certain eye conditions. Flurbiprofen may also be used for other purposes not mentioned here.

Flurbiprofen Warnings

Flurbiprofen belongs in the FDA pregnancy category C. This product may cause severe defects to an unborn baby. It may also cause premature birth, miscarriage, or even death of the baby. Consult first your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant. Flurbiprofen may also pass into breast milk. Flurbiprofen Intake Guidelines

Wash your hands first before using Flurbiprofen eyedrops. Applying Flurbiprofen is just the same as the way other eyedropper are done. Tilt your head back a little and pull down on your lower eyelid. Position Flurbiprofen drops above your eye. Look up and away from the dropper. Press out a drop and close your eye. Apply a mild pressure to the inside corner of your eye for about 1 minute to stop the liquid from draining down your tear duct. Try not to blink and do not rub your eye. Do not rinse the dropper. Be sure that you do not share this medication to others.

Obtain the dosage from your doctor. Dosage may vary from person to person.

Flurbiprofen Overdose

Flurbiprofen overdose is not likely to occur. If you suspect an overdose, call an emergency room or poison control center near you as soon as possible. Drink plenty of fluid if ever the drops have been ingested and immediately call an emergency center for advice.

Flurbiprofen Missed Dose

Immediately take the missed dose as soon as you remember but if it is almost time for the nest dose, skip the missed one and take the subsequent dose according to schedule. It is important to remember not to take a double dose of this medication.

Flurbiprofen Side Effects

Severe side effects may not likely to happen. Less severe side effects of Flurbiprofen may include:

• Eye pains such as eye burning, stinging, irritation, and itching
• Redness of the eyes
• Sensitivity to light and other vision problems

Talk to your doctor immediately if you experienced such side effects before it can lead to more serious effects.

Flurbiprofen Drug Reactions

Flurbiprofen may be dangerous if using other eyedrops or medication such as the following:

• Acetylcholine Chloride (Miochol)
• Carbachol ( Carboptic, Isopto Carbachol)
• NSAID medications such as Aspirin and ibuprofen
• “Blood Thinners” such as Warfarin and Heparin

These drugs may lessen the effects of Flurbiprofen.
