Acupan is a brand name for Nefopam hydrochloride. Acupan is a non opioid pain reliever.

Acupan has been widely used as an alternative to pain killers that have effects on the brain and certainly has fewer side effects than NSAIDs.

Acupan Indications

Acupan may be used for the suppression of:

• Acute pain
• Continuous pain

Acupan Warnings

Acupan should never be used in the treatment of heart attacks or myocardial infractions. There are no clinical tests done to support this indication.

Taking of Acupan may cause discoloration of urine to a pinkish color.

Never use Acupan when you have any of these medical cases as Acupan may have an adverse effect on your condition

• Kidney malfunctions
• Liver problems
• Urine retention
• Epilepsy
• Convulsions

Acupan and Pregnancy

Acupan is a medicine that can cause drowsiness. It is advised that Acupan should not be taken when driving or when performing tasks that may require mental and physical alertness.

• Headaches
• Blurred Vision

Other side effects associated with the intake of Acupan may not be listed here and it is advised that you consult with your doctor if you experience any side effects or suspect unusual body disorders when drinking Acupan.

Acupan Drug Reactions

Acupan should not be taken together with Monoamine Oxidase inhibitors. These anti depressants may cause adverse reactions when taken together with Acupan. Such a drug is phenelzine.

Sedatives and Acupan may further increase the drowsy feeling that Acupan medication involves. Use sedatives and tranquilizers with caution when taking Acupan.

Also note that tricyclic antidepressants such as imipramine may cause the side effects associated with Acupan medication.
