Hytrin has a generic name of Terazosin and this drug belongs to the category of Drugs known as anti- hypertensives.

Hytrin helps in the lowering of blood pressure and it works by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can pass through them more easily and without blockage.

Hytrin Indications

Hytrin and Pregnancy

Studies on humans have not been done yet but studies on animals suggest that there are no known birth defects associated with the intake of Hytrin in animals but there has been a significant decrease in successful pregnancies.

Hytrin may also not be fully advised for patients with the following medical conditions:

• Angina or chest pains – Hytrin may worsen this condition
• Heart diseases – taking Hytrin may aggravate this condition
• Kidney Problems – increased sensitivity may occur

Use this medicine with caution as it may cause sudden fainting spells and dizziness may occur especially when rising from a sitting or lying position.

Drowsiness is also commonly associated with this medicine. Use with caution especially when performing tasks that may require physical and mental alertness such as driving and operating machinery.

Hytrin when used for the treatment of BPH may not reduce the size of the prostate glands but it can significantly relieve the symptoms of the ailment.

Hytrin Dosage

When overdose of Hytrin is suspected, immediately seek medical attention. Overdose of Hytrin may cause severe lowering of blood pressure.

Hytrin Missed Dose

It is not advisable to take double doses of this medicine even if you have missed a dose. If you happen to miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember provided that it is not yet near the time for the next scheduled dose.

Hytrin Side Effects

The most common side effect while taking this medicine is drowsiness and dizziness. Other side effects include:

• Allergy
• Weight gain
