Luvox belongs to the class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Luvox affects the substances in the brain that may become unbalanced and initiate obsessive-compulsive symptoms.

Luvox Indications

Luvox is primarily used in treating obsessive-compulsive disorders that involve recurring thoughts and actions.

Luvox Warnings

• Liver disease
• Mania or suicidal thoughts
• Seizures

Luvox is also not suited if you or have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) inhibitors such as any of the following drugs within the last two weeks:

• Isocarboxazid or Marplan
• Phenelzine or Nardil
• Tranylcypromine or Parnate

Luvox is known to pass to breast milk and therefore to a nursing infant. Do not take Luvox if you are nursing a child without your doctor’s consent.
Luvox belongs to the FDA pregnancy category C. Unborn babies who have been exposed to Luvox within the third trimester of pregnancy may have unwanted effects. do not take Luvox without your doctor’s permission when you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant during treatment.

Luvox Intake Guidelines

Luvox should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. If there are matters that you do not understand, ask your pharmacist, nurse or physician to explain those matters to you.

Luvox should be taken in with 8 ounces or one full glass of water. Intake of Luvox should not be stopped abruptly so as not to prevent unwanted adverse effects.

Luvox may be taken in with or without food but it should be taken at about the same time each dose.

Do not take in more or less of Luvox so as not to alter its effects and to prevent overdose.

Luvox Dosage

Dosage of Luvox should be obtained from your doctor. Dosage may vary from person to person with regards to a variety of factors such as age, severity of condition and others. Do not take in more or less of Luvox so as not to alter its effects and to prevent overdose.

Luvox Overdose

Symptoms of overdose of Luvox include the following:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Tremor
• Seizures
• Agitation
• Drowsiness
• Hyperactivity
• Enlarged pupils

If you experience any of these symptoms, you may be experiencing overdose. Seek immediate medical attention or call poison control. Inform your doctor afterwards.

Luvox Missed Dose

Doses of Luvox should not be missed. If a dose is missed, however, take it as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and take the subsequent doses according to schedule. Do not take a double dose of Luvox unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.

Luvox Side Effects

Luvox may have any of the following serious side effects and allergic reactions:

• Difficulty breathing
• Closing of the throat
• Swelling of the lips, face, or tongue
• Hives
• an irregular heartbeat or pulse
• low blood pressure
• high blood pressure
• chills or fever

If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue using Luvox and inform your doctor immediately.

Luvox may also have less serious side effects that are more likely to occur. They include the following:

• headache
• tremor, nervousness, or anxiety
• nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in appetite or weight
• sleepiness or Insomnia
• decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm

If you experience any of these side effects, continue using the product but inform your doctor immediately.

Other side effects may also occur when you take Luvox. Inform your doctor if you experience anything unusual while or after taking Luvox.

Luvox Drug Reactions

Luvox may react with the following drugs:

• Isocarboxazid or Marplan
• Phenelzine or Nardil
• Tranylcypromine or Parnate
• Thioridazine
• Cisapride
• Pimozide
• a benzodiazepine
• a tricyclic antidepressant
• a phenothiazine
• lithium or clozapine
• almotriptan, frovatriptan, sumatriptan, naratriptan, rizatriptan, or zolmitriptan
• propranolol or metoprolol
• carbamazepine or phenytoin
• warfarin
• methadone
• tacrine
