Micardis Information

Micardis is a drug with the generic name telmisartan. Micardis is classified under the drugs called angiotensin II inhibitors. Micardis is used to treat high blood pressure. Micardis relaxes the blood vessel, which makes it easier for the heart to pump, and reduces its workload. Micardis does this by blocking the action of the substances found in the body that causes the blood vessels to tighten.

Micardis Indications

Micardis is indicated for the treatment of hypertension or high blood pressure.

Micardis Warnings

Tell your doctor if you ever had an allergic reaction to Micardis. Talk to your doctor if you experience any allergic reaction to its active ingredients or any of its inactive ingredients.

The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of Micardis. Talk to your doctor before taking Micardis. Tell your doctor if you have:

• Kidney disease
• Liver disease
• Aortic valve damage

Use of Micardis during pregnancy especially on the second and third trimester may be harmful to the newborn since Micardis may cause low blood pressure, severe kidney disease, and can even cause death in the newborn infant. Check with your doctor if you feel that you have become pregnant while using Micardis or if you are pregnant. Talk and discuss with your doctor about pregnancy and Micardis.

Micardis is not known whether it passes the breast milk or not. Micardis may cause severe side effects and therefore should not be used if you are breast-feeding an infant.

The use of Micardis in older adults is as safe as it is in younger adults.

Micardis Intake Guidelines

Take each dose of Micardis with a full glass of water.

Try taking each dose of Micardis at the same time each day.

Do not take more of Micardis than your doctor ordered.
