Mobic Information

Mobic is a drug that belongs to the category NSAIDs or Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs.

Mobic has a generic name of Meloxicam.

Mobic Indications

Mobic is indicated for the reduction of pain, swelling and inflammation brought about by either Osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.

Mobic can also be used for other purposes aside from the ones mentioned above.

Mobic Warnings

Mobic should not be given to patients that have any of the following medical conditions:

• Fluid retention
• Liver problems
• Kidney diseases
• Blood disorders
• Clotting problems/disorders
• Heart diseases
• Hypertension
• Congestive heart problems
• Stomach ulcers and bleeding
• Allergies to NSAIDs or aspirin

Patients with any of the above medical problems are advised a lower dosage of Mobic or they may be required to entirely stop taking Mobic.

Mobic is also to be administered with caution to patients who are drinking more than 3 glasses of alcoholic beverages per day because taking Mobic together with a sufficient amount of alcohol may increase the risks of stomach bleeding.

Mobic is a drug belonging to the Pregnancy category C and it is not fully known whether taking Mobic can cause harm to the unborn. When you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor first before taking Mobic. Other similar drugs have been known to cause heart defects to the unborn.

It is not also known whether Mobic and its active ingredient Meloxicam passes into the breast milk of nursing mothers. Do not take Mobic while breastfeeding without first talking to your doctor about it.

Mobic Intake Guidelines

Take Mobic exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not deviate from your doctor’s instructions on how to take Mobic.

Each dose of Mobic must be accompanied with a full glass of water.

Mobic is safe for intake even your stomach is empty as it is not a stomach irritant.

Mobic Dosage

The exact dose of Mobic can only be effectively determined by your doctor. Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding the dose for Mobic.

Never attempt to prescribe a dose of Mobic for yourself.

Mobic Overdose

Symptoms of Mobic Overdose include:

• Unconsciousness
• Slow and shallow breathing
• Little or no urine production
• Stomach pains
• Cardiac arrest
• Drowsiness
• Headache
• Seizures

If you suspect overdose and these symptoms are present, immediately seek emergency medical attention.

Mobic Missed Dose

For Regular Intake:

If a dose of Mobic is missed, take it as soon as you remember provided that is not yet almost time for the next scheduled dose. Never take double doses of Mobic to make up for any missed dose unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

For Others:

If you are taking Mobic only when the need arises, you can take the missed dose as soon as you need it. You may also consult your physician on what to do if you are not very confident in taking the dose of Mobic that you missed.

Mobic Side Effects

Some of the serious side effects associated with taking Mobic are:

• Seizures
• Ringing in the ears
• Heartburn
• Abdominal cramps
• Mouth sores
• Allergies - characterized by swelling of lips, nose, tongue and throat, hives and throat constriction.
• Muscle cramps
• Tingling of muscles

Other less serious side effects of Mobic are:

• Headache
• Dry mouth
• Irregular menstruation
• Depression
• Fatigue
• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Dizziness

Other side effects associated with Mobic are also likely to occur. Inform your doctor if you experience anything out of the ordinary while taking Mobic.

Mobic Drug Reactions

The following drugs are not fully advised for use together with Mobic:

• Other NSAIDs such as Cataflam, Voltaren, Lodine, Motrin, Advil, Indocin, Feldene, Clinoril, Tolectin, Orudis, Ansaid, Anaprox, Naflon and others.
• Blood thinners or anticoagulants such as Coumadin
• Lithium
• Over-the-counter medicines for colds, allergies or pain relievers that contain aspirin and other NSAIDs
• Diuretics such as Lasix, Bumex, Edecrin, Demadex, Hygroton, Lozol and others.
• Aspirin or other salicylates

If you are currently taking any of the drugs mentioned above, tell your doctor about it before deciding to take Mobic.

Other drugs aside from the ones mentioned above are also likely to interact unfavorably with Mobic. Inform your doctor of the drugs you are currently taking before going into Mobic medication.
