Naprosyn is a popular drug also known under the name of Naproxen. This medicine belongs to a wide class of drugs known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This drug is known for its ability to reduce the harmful hormones that cause pain and inflammation in the body. Therefore, this medicine is widely prescribed to treat inflammation and pain that can be caused by medical conditions such as bursitis, arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, menstrual cramps, tendinitis, or gout.

A treatment with an NSAID can sometimes increase the risk of developing some life-threatening circulation or heart disorders (this also includes heart attack or stroke). Naprosyn is a category C FDA pregnancy drug. Therefore, this drug can have harmful effects on a growing fetus. You should ask your personal physician if you may start taking Naproxen if you are pregnant or if you plan to be so soon. During the pregnancy’s first 3 months, a treatment with this medicine can sometimes result in unwanted birth defects. It has been established that this medicine can and does pass into breastmilk. You should ask a pediatrician if you may give this drug to a child under the age of 2. 

Naproxen is also known to make a patient’s skin more sensitive to direct sunlight; therefore it could result in sunburn.
