Celol (Celiprolol Hydrochloride)

Celol Information

Celol with the generic name of Celiprolol Hydrochloride is a cardioselective beta-blocker.

Celol Indications

Celol is indicated for patients with hypertension. Celol is also indicated for the containment or the easing up of angina pectoris.

Celol Warnings

Inform your doctor if you have kidney and renal impairments before taking Celol. The excretion of Celol in the urine is decreased when the patient has kidney and other excretory impairments.

The cessation of Celol of intake must be gradual especially in patients with heart problems as an abrupt stop in this medication may result to heart attacks and increase severity of heart problems and may hamper the overall cardiac state.

For patients with heart problems, proper monitoring should be observed when on Celol medication.

Patients with pulmonary problems and diseases such as asthma should be carefully monitored and their intake cautiously given as taking of Celol may worsen their condition and even trigger asthma attacks.

For patients who are to undergo surgery, their Celol intake must first be stopped for at least 48 hours before the anesthesia could be administered.

Blood pressure monitoring should at all times be exercised as Celol lowers blood pressure and if taken on an already lowered blood pressure level, it may cause undesired side effects and even fatal consequences.

For patients who are to undergo drug testing, inform the persons performing the test that you are taking Celol as it may indicate a positive result in the test.

When taking Celol, your susceptibility to allergens may be increased.

Celol Intake Guidelines

Celol should be taken exactly as your doctor prescribed the intake. Never attempt to deviate from your doctor’s instructions regarding the intake.

Each dose of Celol must be taken once daily and the preferred schedule is in the mornings preferably 30 minutes before the morning meal.

Celol Dosage

For the treatment of hypertension

The most common dose for Celol in adults is 200mg a day and may be increased for up to 400 – 600mg as needed.

For the treatment of Angina Pectoris

The initial dose is usually 200 mg and can be increased for up to 400-600 mg as needed.

The dosage must be gradually lowered when use is discontinued.

Celol Overdose

The symptoms of Celol overdose include:

• Hypotension or a dramatic decrease in blood pressure
• Bronchospasms
• Acute cardiac failure

Celol can be fatal when overdosed especially in patients with cardiac problems. If you suspect overdose and experience any of the mentioned symptoms, immediately seek medical attention.

Celol Missed Dose

If a dose is missed, ask your doctor on what to do. Your doctor may advise you to take the dose you missed or to entirely skip it.

Celol Side Effects

The following are the side effects associated with Celol:

• Skin breakouts
• Blurring of vision
• Depression
• Decrease in sexual drive
• Hypoglycemia
• Palpitations
• Tremors
• Flushes
• Redness
• Asthma and other respiratory problems
• Diarrhea
• Cardiac failure – if you feel that your heart seems to give way or is collapsing, immediately stop intake and proceed to the nearest medical facility and seek emergency medical attention immediately.
• Arrhythmia
• Headaches

If you experience any of these side effects and if they become bothersome or intolerable, discontinue use immediately and ask for your doctor’s advice.

Celol Drug Reactions

The administration of Celol together with MAOI or mono amine oxidase inhibitors is strictly not advised.

Other drugs may also not be prescribed to be used together with Celol. Always inform your doctor of the drugs you are taking.
