Some medical disorders are known to sometimes harmfully interact with a treatment with Penicillin. You should alert your pharmacist and your personal doctor if you are suffering from any disorder, especially if the following conditions apply to you:

• if you are currently taking any non prescription or prescription medicines, dietary supplements or herbal preparations
• if you are pregnant, planning to become so soon, or if you are breast-feeding an infant
• if you are suffering from known allergic reactions to medicines, preservatives, foods, or any other type of substances
• if you are suffering from stomach infection or diarrhea

You should not start using Penicillin if you have ever experienced a severe allergy to any other penicillin antibiotic (such as ampicillin or amoxicillin) or to a cephalosporin antibiotic (such as, cephalexin, cefaclor, cefuroxime, cefadroxil). A serious allergic reaction is known to usually include hives, severe rash, dizziness or breathing difficulties. Repeated or long-term use of Cilicaine (Penicillin) may sometimes trigger a second infection. You should alert your personal doctor as soon as possible if you experience any signs of a possible second infection. In some cases, you might be prescribed a new medicine to treat the other infection.

Alert your personal doctor as soon as you can if you start to experience stomach cramps or pain, bloody stools or severe diarrhea. Do not start a treatment for diarrhea on your own (while using Penicillin), without first consulting it with your personal doctor. A treatment with this medicine can sometimes lead to errors (mistakes) in the case of some glucose tests. If you are suffering from diabetes, you should ask your physician if it is necessary for you to change your diabetes medicine dose or your diet.

A treatment with Penicillin is known to interfere with the actions of most birth control pills (or with the actions of any other hormonal birth control method). In order to prevent an unwanted pregnancy, you should use an alternative extra birth control method (such as a condom). While using this medicine, you personal physician might want you to perform several lab tests. You should avoid missing any of your appointments with your personal physician.

• Chloramphenicol, tetracyclines or guar gum because these medicines decrease Penicilllin’s regular effectiveness
• Methotrexate or anticoagulants (for example warfarin) because these medicines increase Penicillin’s regular side effects  
• Oral contraceptives
