Caduet is a combination of two drugs: Atorvastatin (that belongs to a wide group of medicines called “statins”, that are also known as HMG CoA reductase inhibitors, that are meant to block the organism’s the production of cholesterol) and Amlodipine (that belongs to a class of drugs usually known as calcium channel blockers, which are meant to improve the blood flow and to make it easier for the patient’s heart to pump by relaxing his or her blood vessels). You must not start a treatment with Caduet if you are suffering from allergic reactions to Atorvastatin (Lipitor) or to Amlodipine (Norvasc). Before you start taking this medicine, you must inform your physician if you are suffering from:

• liver problems;

• a severe infections or illness or infection;
• if you are taking any other blood pressure or heart medicines.

It is recommended that you use an efficient birth control method during your treatment. It has not been established whether Caduet’s ingredients are able to pass into breast milk. This drug is usually just only part of a complex treatment program that should include diet, weight control and exercise. You should avoid drinking alcohol during your treatment with this drug. • slow, uneven or fast and pounding heartbeats;
• light-headedness, fainting;
• swelling of the feet and hands.

You may continue your treatment, but you should inform your physician if you experience these less severe side effects:

• dizziness, headache;
• tingly feeling;
• warmth;
• gas, diarrhea, mild stomach pain, upset stomach;
• impotence, decreased sex drive;
• drowsiness.

There are other side effects that might occur during or after your treatment with Caduet. You should alert your personal physician as soon as possible if you experience anything unusual or bothersome.
