Vaseretic Information

Vaseretic is a medicine that is also commonly known as Hydrochlorothiazide and Enapranil. Hydrochlorothiazide (one of Vaseretic’s components) is actually a thiazide diuretic (also known as water pill). Water pills increase the quantity of water and salt that the patient loses in his or her urine. Hydrochlorothiazide can also be prescribed to patients suffering from edema (swelling) or of high blood pressure.
Enalapril belongs to a wide a class of drugs also known as angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitors (or ACE inhibitors). This drug is taken by patients who suffer from high blood pressure or to patients who experience congestive heart failure symptoms (such as breath shorthness, swollen legs, etc).

You should not take Vaseretic (Hydrochlorothiazide and Enalapril) if you are suffering from allergic reactions to any other sulfa-based drug (this includes sulfa antibiotics) because you might experience allergic reactions to hydrochlorothiazide.

A treatment with Enalapril is known to increase the risk of developing severe allergic reactions. Therefore, before you start taking this drug you must inform your doctor if you have had any other allergic reactions that consisted of breathing difficulties, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Vaseretic is a category D FDA pregnancy drug. Therefore, a treatment with this drug is known to harm a growing fetus if the drug is taken during pregnancy. Taking Vaseretic in the second and mostly in the third trimester of a pregnancy, Vaseretic causes injury and sometimes death to the unborn child. You should not take this drug without your personal physician’s consent if you are pregnant or if you are planning to be so soon. Vaseretic’s main ingredients are known to pass into breastmilk. If you are breastfeeding a child, you should ask your doctor if it is safe to start taking this drug.

Elderly patients (patients over 60 years old) are more likely to suffer from the drug’s side effects. Patients over 60 should be prescribed a lower dose of Vaseretic.

Vaseretic Missed Dose

Other less severe Vaseretic side effects are:

• headache;
• sensitivity to sunlight;
• fatigue;
• muscle cramps or weakness;
• excessive urination;
• increased thirst or hunger;
• nausea, constipation, diarrhea, changes in taste, or decreased appetite;
• tickling, dry cough;
