DP Lotion Information

DP Lotion-HC 1% is a prescription only medicine. Hydrocortisone belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. DP Lotion-HC 1% is used as an aid to relieve the symptoms of inflammation such as redness, swelling and itching due to skin disorders.

DP Lotion Warnings

Do not use DP Lotion if you have an allergy to hydrocortisone or if you have an allergy to any other ingredients. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include: skin rash, itching, difficulty breathing, hay fever and swelling. Do not use it if you are allergic to lanolin - a substance obtained from sheep's wool. Do not use DP Lotion: if you have an infection at the site of application ; if you have skin cancer; if an itch is due to a disease of the internal organs; after the expiry date (EXP) printed on the pack; if the packaging is damaged or shows signs of tampering . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any allergies to any other medicines any other substances such as foods, preservatives or dyes. Hydrocortisone is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy, as there is inadequate information on the effects of hydrocortisone on the developing child. Hydrocortisone may pass into breast milk and affect the baby. Breastfeeding is then not recommended while using hydrocortisone. Tell your doctor if you suffer from psychosis (abnormal thoughts).

DP Lotion Side effects

Side effects are unlikely to occur while using DP Lotion-HC 1% unless the medicine is significantly abused. If side effects do occur they are likely to be skin related such as: bruising, acne, fragile skin.

DP Lotion Overdose

If DP Lotion-HC 1% is inadvertently swallowed, immediately telephone your doctor or pharmacist or the Poisons Information Centre or go to the Accident and Emergency department at your nearest hospital, in case anyone has swallowed too much DP Lotion-HC 1%. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfit or poisoning.

DP Lotion Usage guidelines

Follow all directions given to you by your doctor and pharmacist carefully. Apply a thin, even layer two to four times a day or as directed by your doctor Keep DP Lotion-HC 1% in a cool dry place away from light. Do not store DP Lotion-HC 1% in the bathroom or near a sink. Heat and dampness can destroy medicines. As with all medicines, you should store DP Lotion-HC 1% out of the reach of children.
