Factive Information

Factive is a drug based on the antibiotic substance Gemifloxacin, a floroquinolone antibacterial agent with strong positive effects in eliminating the susceptible bacteria from the patient’s organism.

Factive Indications

Factive may not be suitable for use during pregnancy or lactation, as it may affect the fetus / infant causing bone development disorders. Also, this medicine should not be administered to children of less than 18 years of age.

Factive Intake Guidelines

You should always take Factive for the entire period of time your prescriber has directed – it is strongly advised that you do not cease taking this medicine sooner than prescribed, although you may experience an improvement in your general health condition soon after starting your therapy course. This is to ensure that the infection is completely cleared from your system and does not recur, and also to prevent the bacteria from developing a resistance to this medicine.

Factive Dosage

The exact Factive dosage to be employed in each case will be determined by the prescriber. Factive Side Effects

There are several side effects associated with the Factive therapy, as with any other drugs and medicines. Some of these may be particularly severe, such as allergies, however others simply manifest as transient and mild discomfort.

It is recommended that you cease taking Factive and consult with your personal physician at once if you happen to experience any of the following: arrhythmia, fainting, lightheadedness, convulsions, hallucinations, confusion, reduced volume or frequency of urination, shaking or tremor, unusual weakness, easy bleeding or bruising, mental or behavior changes, jaundice, appetite loss, clay-colored stool, dark urine, swelling of the joints accompanied with pain, or watery / bloody diarrhea.

Less severe symptoms may include insomnia, vaginal discharge or vaginal itching, drowsiness, dizziness or nausea and vomiting. It is best that you check with your physician at any time you begin experiencing any unexpected effects.

Factive Drug Reactions

Factive may interact with Bepridil, Cisapride, Droperidol, Methadone, Pentamidine, Theophylline, Warfarin or other blood thinning agents, Furosemide or other diuretics, Erythromycin or other antibiotics, Amitriptyline or other antidepressants, psychiatric disorder medication, steroids or heart rhythm drugs. You should inform the prescriber of any other drugs you are taking at the time before starting a therapy course with Factive.
