Avoid getting pregnant while taking Hycamtin, use birth control; this medication could harm your unborn child. While taking this cancer treatment medication you will want to avoid being around people who are sick with contagious illnesses such as the flu or a cold, while taken this medication you could catch an infection easily so be careful going out in public especially if it is cold and flu season. Hycamtin may affect your ability to react quickly and affect your thinking, use caution while driving.

Hycamtin Intake Guidelines

This medication comes in two forms either by injection or by capsule: the capsule form will have to be swallowed whole and taken with at least an 8 ounce glass of water. This medication may be taken with food or without food. Do not open capsules this medication can bother your skin and damage your eyes if you were to get it in them. The injection is given directly into the vein by medical personnel either at the doctors or in a hospital setting. This medicine is givin through an IV and takes around 30 minutes to complete. If the medicine drips on your skin, let the doctor or nurse know immediately. This medication will lower your immune system and your body will not be able to fight off infections as well.

Hycamtin Dosage

Depending if you are taking the capsule or getting an injection the capsule you will take yourself with a full glass of water. The patient will take one capsule a day for 5 days then the treatment is repeated again in 21 days, the same for the injection but it is given by a doctor.

Hycamtin Overdose

Get medical attention immediately if you think you took an extra dose of this medication. Too much of this medication can cause bone marrow depression.

Hycamtin Missed dose

If you happen to miss a dose consult your physician.

Hycamtin Side Effects

Serious side effects include: flu symptoms, diarrhea with fever and pain in the stomach, pale skin, and pain while urinating. Other side effects are; headache, body ache, temporary loss of hair, rash, nausea and or vomiting.
