Belara Information

This medication is a type of birth control to prevent pregnancy. This contraceptive is given orally to women; Belara is marketed outside of the United States only. Before taking this medication; talk with your physician about the side effects that could occur. This medication has been used in the treatment of acne as well as for birth control. Belara contains ethinyl estradiol and chlomadinone acetate and this medication is available in France, Spain, and Switzerland to name a few. Belara Indications

This medicine is a hormonal contraceptive and is used for birth control and acne in some countries. The uses and effects vary.

Belara Warnings

Inform your doctor before using this contraceptive if you have a history of varicose veins, phlebitis and heart disease, or are overweight. If you smoke while taking Belara you are increasing your risk of a stroke and increasing the risk of clots. If you are at high risk for any of the conditions mentioned then you should be monitored for clotting. If you have a family history of heart disease, thrombosis, obesity and blood clotting, please inform your physician before taking Belara. If you have heart and kidney problems, epilepsy or asthma special treatment and care will be needed when taking Belara.

Belara Intake Guidelines

One tablet daily swallowed whole with liquid or food. This should be followed correctly.

Belara Dosage

Dosage is one tablet daily for 21 days, then seven days without a pill, than start the cycle over again.

Belara Overdose

Overdosing on Belara is unlikely and it would not necessarily be life threatening. Some of the symptoms would be gastrointestinal complaints, and bleeding.

Belara Missed Dose

If the patient has forgotten to take a pill, it must be taken within 12 hours, if not another form of birth control will need to be used the rest of the cycle. It is important that extreme care is made to administer this medication as prescribed in order to obtain the best results.

Breast tenderness, Headache, Dizziness, Fatigue, Mood changes, Skin rashes, Irregular bleeding

Uncommon side effects:

Stomachache, allergic, diarrhea, migraine, hair loss, back pain, dry skin, muscle problems

Rare side effects:

High or low blood pressure, varicose veins, hives, itching, eczema, increased appetite, dermatitis

Very rare:

Erythema nodosum

Belara Drug Reactions

Certain medications may alter the effectiveness of this birth control such as: Barbiturates, rifampicin, phenylbutazone, and antiepileptic agents- barbexaclone, carbamazepine, phenytoin and primidone. St Johns Wart and oral birth control has caused spotting in some women. Belara can have an effect on diabetic medicine such as insulin.
