Nuvaring Information

NuvaRing is a small flexible, colorless ring used to prevent pregnancy. The nuvaring is a way to prevent pregnancy, it is much like the pill, and hormones are released slowly over a period of time preventing pregnancy. Nuvaring will not protect anyone against any sexually transmitted disease such as chlamydia, genital warts, syphilis, and herpes.

Nuvaring Indications

This ring is used only to prevent pregnancy. It will not prevent HIV or any other transmitted disease. The Nuvaring can be effective if used as prescribed by a doctor. The nuvaring contains progestin and estrogen which are female hormones. Once the ring is in your body it will release low dosages of hormones.

Nuvaring Warnings

Do not smoke as your chance of having a heart attack increases. Heart problems may occur in women over 35 who smokewhile using the Nuvaring. Before using the Nuvaring make sure your doctor knows your medical history, especially if you have a history of heart problems, clots, HBP, diabetes or Liver problems and do not use if pregnant. Do not smoke while using this product. Tell your doctor about your cholesterol levels, kidney problems, and gallbladder and thyroid problems. It is advised not to breast feed while using this product. When using contraceptives there is an increases risk of thromboembolism.

Nuvaring Intake Guidelines

Use the ring as directed and if the ring falls it will need to be replaced within three hours. The Nuvaring will be worn for three weeks at a time and then removed for a week and then replace a week later with a new ring. Before using the product for the first time read the insert.

Nuvaring Dosage

A woman will insert the ring into the vagina opening. The ring is to be worn for three weeks and removed during your period and thrown away. A new ring will then be used in another seven days repeating the cycle.

Nuvaring Overdose

Overdosing with this product is unlikely; never use more than one ring at a time. Symptoms of overdose are vomiting, nausea and unusual vaginal bleeding.

Nuvaring Missed Dose

If the ring was to fall out or removed before the three weeks is up it must be reinserted within three hours; if not you will have to use another method of birth. Talk to your doctor for more information.

Nuvaring Side Effects

There are several side effects that may occur:

Stomach cramps
Bloating
Dizziness
Headache
Vaginal irritation
Breast tenderness
Serious side effects include- weight change, melasma, changes in bleeding
Unlikely side effects- groin pain, trouble breathing, chest pain, coughing up blood, dark urine.
An allergic reaction may occur but is unlikely

Nuvaring Drug Reactions

The effectiveness of this medication can be reduced when using antifungals and anticonvulsants, if these types of medications are necessary then another source of birth control may be needed as well as the Nuvaring. Using herbal products is not recommended especially if they contain St. Johns Wart. Some tests may be affected by using the nuvaring. Patient needs to read medication leaflet before using this product.

When calling in to place my order I am promptly connected with a representative. They do their best to place my order within a reasonable amount of time. So far I have not encountered any problems when placing an order. Even though my prescription comes from a very long distance (and I do not get rush delivery) it is always here before the maximum amount of time. I was very unhappy with the price of my prescription IN MY AREA and finding pharmacy escrow has saved me over $300!!!!! So far I have had very friendly staff help place my order. Although there can be somewhat of a language barrier sometimes, they do their best to work with you and make you feel important. I do not dread calling in my prescription as I know it will be quick and easy. If there seems to be something delaying the order I will get a phone call right away letting me know and getting it solved to get my order on time.
