Relpax is used for treating migraines. Migraines occur when the blood vessels and tissues surrounding the brain dilate. This medication will constrict the blood vessels, which will prevent the migraine from occurring. Relpax can be very effective but it cannot totally prevent a migraine attack. This medication should only be taken for migraines not for a normal headache and should only be taken as directed. Relpax should never be taken by an individual who it is not prescribed for.

Relpax Indications

Relpax is used to treat migraine headaches and nausea that tend to come with migraines. It will not prevent a migraine, and this medicine should only be taken for migraines.

Relpax Warnings

Do not use this medication if you are allergic to migraine drugs or if you have known allergies. Relpax should not be used if you have a history of chest pains, or any heart diseases, HBP or a stroke. Before taking this medication inform your doctor of any risk factors such as HBP, high cholesterol, are overweight or a family history of diabetes or any of the conditions mentioned. This medication is not recommended for men over the age of 40 and for women with menopause. Do not use this medication while pregnant. Do not take this medication while driving or operating machinery it could cause dizziness.

Relpax Intake Guidelines

Take relpax by mouth when migraine begins as directed by your doctor. Do not take more than 80mg within 24 hours, if you get relief with the first dose and your migraine returns, you can take a second dose but no more.

Relpax Dosage

Take as directed by your doctor, when a migraine is starting.

Relpax Overdose

Symptoms of overdose include chest pain and or severe dizziness. If you think you may have overdosed contact the emergency room or poison control center hotline number.

Relpax Missed Dose

Take this medicine is taken as needed, when a migraine begins.

Relpax Side Effects

Most common side effects include dry mouth, upset stomach and dizziness. There are some serious side effects that are unlikely to occur but if they do contact your doctor immediately; numbness in your hands or feet, throat, jaw or neck pain, chest pain or trouble swallowing. Other serious side effects include irregular heartbeat, pain in your stomach, vision problems, slurred speech and bloody diarrhea. As with any medication if you are having allergic reactions contact your physician or seek medical treatment.

Relpax Drug Reactions

There are certain medications that you cannot take within 24 hours after taking Relpax; ergot-type drugs such as ergotamine, dihydroergotamine, and methysergide or other migraine medications. Within 72 hours of taking relpax you cannot take ketoconazole, itraconzale and macrolides or protease inhibitors. Before starting this medication inform the doctor or pharmacist of all medication you are taking even over-the-counter medications such as St. Johns Wart or serotonin type medications. As with any medications, do not take unless it is prescribed for you.
