Your prescriber may or may not prescribe it at all if you: are aged over 80 years, have a low level of platelets in your blood, having seizures, been given heparin within the last 48 hours, have a tumor, have damage to the brain nerves or spinal cord, have had a stroke in the past and have diabetes, have had a gastrointestinal ulcer within the past three months, have had certain medical procedures such as a biopsy or an injection into a muscle, have had an injury or an operation within the past three months, have or have had bleeding problems in the last six months, have had to be resuscitated within the past ten days, have recently taken aspirin, have or have had cerebrovascular problems, are bleeding, are prone to bleeding, have gastrointestinal problems, have liver problems, have high blood pressure which is not well controlled, have pancreatitis.
The prescriber may arrange test as part of the process of assessing suitability to take this medicine.
