Mimpara information

Mimpara works by controlling the levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH), phosphorous and calcium in your body. It is used to treat problems with organs called parathyroid glands.

Mimpara indications

Mimpara is used for patients with parathyroid cancer, to reduce high levels of calcium in the blood. Patients with serious kidney disease who need dialysis to clear their blood of waste products. Patients with primary hyperparathyroidism who still have high calcium levels after removal of the parathyroid gland or that which cannot be removed.

Mimpara Warnings

Do not take Mimpara if you are allergic to cinacalcet or anything in Mimpara. If you are under the age of 18 you should not take Mimpara. Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had seizures or convulsions, liver problems, heart failure. Tell your doctor of any other medicine you are taking or have recently taken. Tell you’re your doctor if your taking any of the following medicines for they can effect how Mimpara works, medicines used to treat skin and fungal infections, medicine used to treat HIV infection and AIDS, antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, Mimpara has not been tested with pregnant women, your doctor may decide to modify your treatment. Also there have been no studies although dizziness and seizures have been reported by patients taking Mimpara.

Mimpara Intake Guidelines

Mimpara should be taken with food or shortly after.

Dosage

Take Mimpara exactly as your doctor has told you; if you are unsure ask your doctor or pharmacist. Mimpara must be taken orally, with or shortly after food. The pills must be taken whole and not divided. Your doctor will monitor and take blood samples to adjust your dose if necessary.

Mimpara Overdose

If an overdose occurs contact your doctor immediately. Signs of overdose include tingling around the mouth or numbness, cramps and seizures or muscle aches.

Mimpara Missed Dose

Do not take a double dose; you should take your next dose as normal. If you have any questions or concerns ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Mimpara Side Effects

If you start to get tingling around the mouth or numbness, muscle aches or cramps and seizures, tell your doctor immediately. These could be signs that your calcium levels are too low. Very common side effects are vomiting and nausea, these side effects are normally and don’t last too long. Common side effects are numbness or tingling, muscle pain, loss of appetite, dizziness, weakness, rash and reduced testosterone levels. Uncommon side effects are diarrhea, seizures, allergic reaction, and indigestion. A very small number of patients after taking Mimpara with heart failure had worsening of their condition. In a very small number of these patients, lower blood pressure has been seen.

Mimpara Drug Reactions

The active substance is cinacalcet; each coated tablet contains 30 mg, 60 mg or 90 mg of cinacalcet. Other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, Pre-gelatinised maize starch, Crospovidone, Povidone, Colloidal anhydrous silica, Magnesium stearate. If you are allergic to any of these ingredients do not take this medication.
