Flouroplex Information

Flouroplex is a drug with a generic name known as Fluorouracil Topical. Flouroplex interferes with the skin cells’ growth. Flouroplex is responsible for the death of cells, which are growing fastest, such as abnormal skin cells.

Flouroplex Indications

Flouroplex is used to cure infections of the skin. Flouroplex is indicated for the treatment of scaly overgrowths of skin. Flouroplex may also be used to treat superficial basal cell carcinoma.

Flouroplex can also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Flouroplex Warnings

Before using Flouroplex, tell your doctor if you experience any of the following:

• Allergic reaction to any of its ingredients
• dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase enzyme deficiency

You may not be able to use Flouroplex, or you may need special monitoring or dosage adjustment if you experienced any of the aforementioned disorder.

Flouroplex is in the FDA pregnancy category X. This means that it is known to harm an unborn baby. Flouroplex is reported to have caused miscarriages and birth defects when applied in mucous membrane areas by pregnant women. Do not take Flouroplex if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Discuss with your doctor for more information about Flouroplex. Flouroplex is not known to pass into the breast milk. Do not use Flouroplex if you are breast-feeding a baby without talking to your doctor first.

In patients having age younger than 18, safety and effectiveness have not been established.

Flouroplex Intake Guidelines

Clean the area where you will apply Flouroplex. Rinse well and dry the area with a towel. Before applying Flouroplex, wait for ten minutes.

Wash your hands before and immediately after applying Flouroplex.

Apply Flouroplex to the affected area with the fingertips or a non-metal applicator. Smooth it gently onto the affected skin. With a thin film, use enough to cover the entire area.

Flouroplex should not be used on skin that is irritated, peeling, or infected or on open wounds. Wait until these conditions have fully healed before using Flouroplex.

2 hours after Flouroplex has been applied, moisturizer or sunscreen may be applied. Use of any other skin products including creams, lotions, medications, or cosmetics while taking Flouroplex is not recommended unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

Use bandages that allow air circulation over the affected area. Use only closed bandages if otherwise directed by your doctor. Use a light, cotton gauze dressing to protect clothing. Avoid getting Flouroplex in your eyes, nose, or mouth or in large, open wounds.

If Flouroplex gets in your eyes or mouth, rinse immediately with water. Consult a poison control left if Flouroplex is ingested.

Flouroplex Dosage

Use Flouroplex exactly as instructed by your doctor. If you do not understand these instructions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.

Flouroplex Overdose

An overdose of Flouroplex is not common. You should consult a doctor if you suspect an overdose, or call the poison center left or an emergency room for advice. No symptoms of an overdose are known.

Flouroplex Missed Dose

The missed dose of Flouroplex should be applied as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and apply only the regular amount of Flouroplex. Do not use a double dose of Flouroplex unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.

Flouroplex Side Effects

Serious side effects are not expected to occur with Flouroplex therapy. Discontinue use of Flouroplex and see your doctor if you experience any of the following:

• Shortness of breath
• Closing of your throat
• Swelling of your lips
• Swelling of your face
• Swelling of your tongue
• Hives
• Exfoliation
• Rash
• Dryness
• Skin irritation

Side effects of Flouroplex other than those listed here may also appear. Talk to your doctor about any side effects that may seem remarkable or that is especially troublesome.

Flouroplex Drug Reactions

Using other topical preparations on the same area at the same time should be avoided unless otherwise directed to do so by your doctor. Other topical medications may change the way that your skin absorbs Flouroplex.

Do not use prescription or over-the-counter medicines without talking to your doctor. Doing such may interfere with the treatment or increase of irritation in the skin.

Drugs other than those listed here may also react with Flouroplex. Talk to your doctor before taking any medicines.
