Flutamin Information

Flutamin is an antiandrogen drug. It demonstrates powerful antiandrogenic effects by inhibiting androgen or binding androgen in target tissues.

Flutamin Indications

Flutamin is used in treatment prostate cancer. Flutamin may also be used for purposes not mentioned here.

Flutamin Warnings

Flutamin belongs in the FDA pregnancy category D. This means that Flutamin may cause serious defects to an unborn baby. It may also cause premature birth, miscarriage, or even death of the baby. Do not take Flutamin without the prescription of your doctor if you are pregnant. It is also unknown whether Flutamin passes into the breast milk. Talk first to your doctor, nurse, or physician before taking Flutamin if you are breast-feeding a baby. Flutamin is not really indicated for use by women. No studies have been conducted in pregnant or lactating women.

Flutamin may be incompatible with the following conditions:

• Liver disease
• Hemoglobin M deficiency
• Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency

Flutamin Intake Guidelines

Follow the prescription of your doctor if you are taking Flutamin. You may also ask your pharmacist or nurse about things you do not understand. Take each dose with a full glass of water. It is usually taken every 8 hours a day. Always follow your doctor’s prescription. Do not stop taking Flutamin without proper advice by your doctor, nurse, or physician to do so.

Flutamin Overdose

Overdose of Flutamin may include the following:

• Dizziness
• Vomiting
• Sedation
• Decreased activity
• Decreased appetite
• Slow breathing
• Watery eyes
• Upraised body hair

Inform your doctor and seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.

Flutamin Missed Dose

Immediately take the missed dose as soon as you remember but if it is almost time for the nest dose, skip the missed one and take the subsequent dose according to schedule. It is important to remember not to take a double dose of this medication.

Flutamin Side Effects

Severe side effects of this product may include the following:

• Gynaecomastia or breast tenderness
• Galactorrhoea
• Allergic reactions (difficult breathing; swelling of the lips, tongue, face; closing of throat; or hives)

If you experienced the effects stated above, stop using Flutamin and talk to your doctor immediately.

Less severe side effects of this product may include the following:

• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Increased appetite
• Tiredness
• Abnormal liver function and hepatitis

Stop taking this product if you experience any of these side effects and immediately inform your doctor.

Rare adverse actions caused by taking this product are the following:

• Upset stomach
• Anorexia
• Ulcer-like pain
• Heartburn
• Constipation
• Oedema
• Ecchymoses
• Herpes
• Zoster
• Pruritus
• Lupus-like syndrome
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Weakness
• Malaise
• Blurred vision
• Thirst
• Chest pain
• Anxiety
• Decreased libido
• Lymphoedema.
• Reduced sperm count

Other side effects may also occur other than the above mentioned. Inform your doctor if you feel anything unusual.

Flutamin Drug Reactions

Flutamin may interact pharmacologically with androgens, oestrogens, or other forms of hormonal therapy. Taking Flutamin together with Warfarin (Coumadin) may lead to severe bleeding. Other drugs may also react with Flutamin so it is better to inform your doctor if you are taking any prescription or over-the-counter medications.
