Humulin Information

Humulin is generally synthesized for human insulin production. There 5 types of Humulin. Humulin R (Regular) that is also called Soluble insulin injection, Humulin N (NPH) that is also called Isophane insulin injection, Humulin Mixture 80/20 that is also called Biphasic isophane insulin injection, Humulin Mixture 70/30 that is also called Biphasic isophane insulin injection, and Humulin L (Lente) that is also called Insulin zinc injectable suspension.

Humulin R is a sterile, clear colorless aqueous solution of human insulin adjusted to pH range of 7.0 to 7.8. Humulin R is a short-acting insulin preparation.

Humulin N is a sterile suspension of a white, crystalline precipitate of isophane human insulin in an isotonic phosphate buffer adjusted to a pH range of 6.9 to 7.5. Humulin N is an intermediate-acting insulin preparation.

Humulin 80/20 is a mixture of human insulin, which is 80% isophane human insulin and 20% soluble human insulin, adjusted to a pH range of 6.9 to 7.5. Humulin 80/20 is still an intermediate-acting insulin preparation.

Humulin 70/30 is a mixture of human insulin, which is 70% isophane human insulin and 30% soluble human insulin, adjusted to a pH range of 6.9 to 7.5. Humulin 70/30 is also an intermediate-acting insulin preparation.

Humulin L is a sterile suspension of human insulin zinc suspension in the proportion of 30% amorphous and 70% crystalline adjusted to a pH range of 7.0 to 7.8. Humulin L is still an intermediate-acting insulin preparation.

Humulin Indications

Humulin, like any other insulin, is mainly indicated to treat high blood sugar or Hyperglycemia in low birth weight infants. It is also used to test for growth hormone deficiency and to prevent complications of diabetes, including eye problems or retinopathy, kidney disease or nephropathy, and nerve damage or neuropathy.

Humulin Overdose

There are no data on the symptoms of overdose of Humulin. It is best if you consult your doctor immediately if you suspect an overdose of Humulin drug.

Humulin Missed Dose

Immediately take the Humulin missed dose as soon as you remember but if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and take the subsequent dose according to schedule. It is important to remember not to take a double dose of Humulin medication.
