Hyoscine Information

Hyoscine is a drug with a generic name Hyoscine hydrobromide, which is a type of medicine called antimuscarinic or anticholinergic. It is used to prevent travel sickness.

Hyoscine Indications

Hyoscine is indicated to prevent sickness during travel.

Hyoscine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Hyoscine Warnings

Before taking Hyoscine, tell your doctor if you experience any of the following:

• Difficulty in passing urine or Urinary Retention
• Disease involving the heart and blood vessels or cardiovascular disease
• Enlarged prostate gland or prostatic hypertrophy
• Life long inherited blood diseases
• mental health problems or Porphyria
• Obstruction of the stomach or intestines
• Decreased kidney function
• Decreased liver function
• Glaucoma

You may not be able to take Hyoscine, or you may require an adjustment of your dose or have a special monitoring device. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Hyoscine must be used in caution with elderly people.

Hyoscine safety concerning pregnancy has not been established. Do not use Hyoscine during pregnancy especially in the first trimester. If you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant, do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor.

A small amount of Hyoscine passes into the breast milk. If you are breast-feeding an infant, do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor.

Stop using Hyoscine if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately if you have previously experienced such allergies.

Drink a mouthful of water before taking Hyoscine tablet to prevent dry mouth.

Hyoscine Overdose

There is no reported incidence of a Hyoscine overdose. Talk and discuss with your doctor if you suspect an overdose of Hyoscine.

Hyoscine Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Hyoscine as soon as possible. However, skip the missed dose and take only the next regularly scheduled dose if it is almost time for the next dose. A double dose of this medication must not be taken.

Hyoscine Side Effects

• Dizziness
• Blurred vision

• Irritation of the skin at site of patch application
