INNOHEP TINZAPARIN SODIUM

Innohep (Tinzaparin Sodium)

Innohep Information

Innohep is a drug with generic name of Tinzaparin Sodium and belongs to the group of medicines called anticoagulants. Innohep is a low molecular weight heparin and is produced by controlled enzymatic depolymerization of heparin. Innohep acts as a strong co-inhibitor of some activated coagulation factors.

Innohep Indications

Innohep is indicated for the treatment of acute symptomatic deep vein thrombosis with or without pulmonary embolism when administered in conjunction with warfarin sodium. Innohep may also be used for purposes not mentioned here.

Innohep Warnings

Innohep contains Sodium Metabisulfide, a sulfite that may cause allergic-type reactions including anaphylactic symptoms and life-threatening asthma. Do not also use Innohep in patients with history of Thrombocytopenia. Thrombocytopenia may arise with the use of Innohep.

Innohep medicine should be used with heed in patients with the following conditions:

  • Diabetic Retinopathy
  • Hemorrhage
  • Bleeding Diathesis
  • Uncontrolled Arterial Hypertension
  • History of recent gastrointestinal ulceration
  • Hypersensitivity to fractioned or unfractioned heparins
  • Threatened abortion
  • Serious Liver, Kidney or Pancreas impairment
  • History of Heparin-associated Thrombocytopenia (type II)

Innohep belongs to the FDA pregnancy category B. studies conducted in rats and rabbits show no evidence of impaired fertility or harm to fetus. However, multiple doses of Innohep contain Benzyl alcohol as a preservative. Administration of medicines containing Benzyl alcohol has been associated with a fatal "Gasping Syndrome". Benzyl may also cross the placenta. There are reports of teratogenic effects found in infants of women who use Innohep during pregnancy such as Down’s syndrome, Optic nerve hypoplasia, Cutis aplasia of the scalp, and Cleft palate. Miscarriage and spontaneous abortion are also associated with the use of Innohep in pregnant women. Therefore, caution should be exercise in pregnant patients who are taking Innohep. It is always important to remember to consult first your doctor before you use Innohep drug if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during the treatment period.

It is not known whether Innohep passes into the breast milk. Studies conducted in rats shows that very low levels of Innohep were fount in breast milk. Still, exercise care in using Innohep if you are breast-feeding a baby. Inform your doctor first before you use Innohep if you are to breast-feed a baby.

Like any other anticoagulants, Innohep should be use with must care with the following conditions:

  • Bacterial endocarditis
  • Severe uncontrolled Hypertension
  • Bleeding disorders such as Hepatic failure and Amyloidosis
  • Hemorrhage Stroke
  • Active Ulcerative and Angiodysplastic GI disease
  • Recent Brain, Spinal, and Eye surgery
  • In patients treated concurrently with platelet inhibitors.

Innohep Intake Guidelines

Use Innohep as exactly directed by your doctor. Do not deviate from your doctor’s instruction on taking Innohep medication. You may also ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist for things which you do not understand.

Innohep must be used as s subcutaneous or under skin injection. Do not inject Innohep medication into the muscle or intramuscularly and into the vein or intravenously.

Follow your doctor’s instructions on how to take Innohep drug. Your doctor or nurse will give you detailed information on taking Innohep medication. Innohep injection should be injected into the fat of the stomach. The following information may help you a little on ways of taking Innohep medicine, but still, to get accurate and suitable results, always consult your doctor.

Be positioned before getting an injection. You may sit or lie down to a comfortable place for you. Pinch a fold of skin as to where you will insert the needle entirely into the fold. Introduced the intact length of the needle into the skin fold and the skin fold should be held throughout the injection. It is important not to rub the area after injecting the medication to minimize bruising. Rotate the injection sites as directed by your doctor.

Innohep Dosage

For the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) with or without pulmonary embolism (PE) in adult, the dosage of Innohep is 175 anti-XaIU/kg of body weight, administered SC once a day for at least 6 days and until the patient is effectively anticoagulated with warfarin. Initiate Warfarin Sodium therapy within 1-3 days of Innohep initiation.

There is no sufficient data for the dosage required for the elderly patients while safety and effectiveness of Innohep in pediatric patients have not been known.

Dosage may vary from person to person and with the different variations of illnesses. To get the most appropriate data needed, inquire information from your doctor or physician.

Innohep OverDose

Symptoms of Innohep overdose may include the following:

  • Uneasy bruising or bleeding
  • Unusual bleeding from wounds or injection sites
  • Nosebleeds
  • Blood in the urine
  • Black, bloody, or tarry stools

If you experience any of the above stated symptoms of overdose, notify immediately your doctor. Also, seek for an emergency medical attention if you suspect an overdose or if you feel anything unusual or bothersome effects.

Innohep Missed Dose

Immediately take the missed dose of Innohep medicine as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for your next dose of Innohep drug, skip the missed dose and take the next regularly schedule dose of Innohep. It is important not to take a double dose of Innohep medication.

Innohep Side Effects

Like any other medicines, Innohep may also cause several side effects to the human body. Side effects of Innohep may include the following:

  • Bleeding-related effects such as Anorectal bleeding, Cerebral/intracranial bleeding, Epistaxis, Gastrointestinal hemorrhage, Hemarthrosis, Hematemesis, Hematuria, Hemopericardium, Hemorrhage NOS, Injection site bleeding, Melena, Purpura, Retroperitoneal/intra-abdominal bleeding, Vaginal hemorrhage, and Wound hematoma
  • Organ Dysfunction such as Angina pectoris, Cardiac arrhythmia, Dependent edema, myocardial infarction/coronary thrombosis, and Thromboembolism
  • Fetal or Neonatal effects such as Congenital anomaly, Fetal death, and Fetal distress
  • Cutaneous effects such as Bullous eruption, Erythematous rash, Maculopapular rash, and Skin necrosis
  • Hematoligic effects such as Granulocytopenia, and Thrombocytopenia
  • Allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue and throat
  • Cellulitis
  • Neoplasm
  • Cardiovascular Disorders such as hypotension and Hypertension
  • Central and Peripheral Nervous System Disorders such as Dizziness
  • Gastrointestinal System Disorders such as flatulence, G astrointestinal disorder and D yspepsia
  • Heart Rate and Rhythm Disorders such as Tachycardia
  • Myo-, Endo-, Pericardial and Valve Disorders such as Angina pectoris
  • Psychiatric Disorders such as Insomnia and Confusion
  • Red Blood Cell Disorders such as Anemia
  • Resistance Mechanism Disorders such as Healing impaired and Infection
  • Respiratory System Disorders such as Pneumonia and Respiratory disorder
  • Urinary System Disorders such as Urinary Retention and Dysuria
