Iodine belongs to the category of drugs called antibacterial, topical. Iodine acts on the body by killing the bacteria that may cause infection.

Iodine Overdose

An overdose of Iodine is unlikely to occur. When swallowed, some of the symptoms of overdose are diarrhea, abdominal or stomach pain, nausea, fever, vomiting, thirst, and difficulty in passing urine.

Iodine Missed Dose

In case you miss a dose of Iodine, apply the missed dose in the soonest possible time. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue the rest of the day’s dose as directed by your doctor.

Iodine Side Effects

Some of the rare side effects of Iodine are irritation, reddening of the skin, crusting, itching, and blistering. Look for emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately if you experience of the said side effects. Some side effects other than those mentioned here may also occur. Talk to your doctor if you experience any unusual or bothersome side effects.
