Lanvis Information

Lanvis is a drug with the active ingredient known as tioguanine, which is a type of medicine under the group of anticancer known as cytotoxic antimetabolites. Lanvis slows down the process of cancer-formation of the cells.

Lanvis Indications

Lanvis is indicated for the treatment of leukemia.

Lanvis Warnings

Before taking Lanvis, tell your doctor if you experience any of the following:

• High level of uric acid in the urine or hyperuricuria
• Decreased kidney function
• Decreased liver function
• Severe reduction in blood cell production
• High level of uric acid in the blood or hyperuricemia

You may not be able to take Lanvis, or you may require an adjustment of your dose or have a special monitoring device. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Lanvis is not known whether it will harm an unborn baby. If you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant, do not take Lanvis without first talking to your doctor. Do not take Lanvis unless otherwise considered essential by your doctor. Discuss with your doctor about pregnancy and Lanvis.

It is not known whether Lanvis passes into breast milk. If you are breast-feeding an infant, do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor.

Lanvis should not be administered to patients with known sensitiveness or allergy to Lanvis.

Lanvis Intake Guidelines

Do not stop taking Lanvis suddenly if you feel better. Doing such may cause your condition to worsen.

Avoid direct exposure to bare skin.

Avoid alcoholic beverages when taking Lanvis.

Use Lanvis only with the supervision of a medical specialist.

Handle this medicine with care.

Lanvis can be taken by mouth as a tablet. It is highly recommended that both partners should consider contraceptive measures if both are taking Lanvis.

Lanvis Dosage

Take Lanvis exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand any of these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.

Lanvis Overdose

There are no known significant overdoses of Lanvis reported.

Lanvis Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Lanvis as soon as possible. However, skip the missed dose and take only the next regularly scheduled dose if it is almost time for the next dose of Lanvis. A double dose of Lanvis must not be taken.

Lanvis Side Effects

Lanvis and other medicines may affect individual people in a different manner. The following are the side effects known or associated with Lanvis, though not all patients taking Lanvis experience the same symptoms or any side effect.

Stop taking Lanvis and call your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical attention if symptoms of a Lanvis side effect occur.

Symptoms of a Lanvis side effect include the following:

• Yellowing of the skin or eyes
• Darkened urine
• Decreased production of blood cells by the bone marrow
• Gastric disturbances
• Constipation
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Gastric discomfort

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially disturbing.

Lanvis Drug Reactions

Other medicines taken together with Lanvis may affect the rate of treatment. Talk to your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

• Busulfan
• Aminosalicylates
• Olsalazine
• Mesalazine
• Sulfasalazine

The medicines mentioned above may increase the risk of bone marrow suppression or myelosuppression.
