Maxidex Information

Maxidex belongs to a group of medicines commonly known as corticosteroids, which are used in reducing inflammation. Inflammations occur as a consequence of allergy or irritation and are brought about by the release of substances that are vital in the immune system. These substances cause blood vessels to expand, resulting in the affected area becoming crimson, swollen, itchy and painful. Maxidex work s by acting within cells to reduce the release of these substances in a particular area, thereby reducing swelling, redness and itch.

Maxidex Indications

Maxidex is primarily used in the following:

• Inflammation of the eye following surgery
• Inflammatory conditions of the eye like conjunctivitis
• Injury to the front of the eye know as the cornea due to chemical, radiation or heat burns, or from penetration by a foreign object
• Preventing rejection of grafts in the eye

Maxidex may also be used for purposes such as those not indicated here in this guide.

Maxidex Warnings

Maxidex may cause temporary blurring of vision. Make sure not to drive or operate machinery until this temporary blurring of vision has worn off.

Intensive or prolonged application of Maxidex to the eye can show the way to an increase in the pressure inside the eye. It can also lead to glaucoma, damage to the optic nerve and to the formation of cataracts.

Maxidex is not intended to be taken by mouth. Do not ingest this drug.

Maxidex should not be used in the treatment of a red eye that has not been diagnosed by a doctor. inappropriate use of Maxidex can lead to blindness.

Maxidex may not be well suited with the following conditions:

• Eye conditions producing pus
• Fungal infections of the eye
• Soft contact lens wearers
• Tuberculosis infection affecting the eye
• Viral infections of the eye

Maxidex should also not be used if any of the following has occurred:

• the seal around the cap has been broken
• the bottle or packaging has shown signs of tampering
• the expiry date on the bottle has passed

Maxidex should not be used if you have had any previous allergic to one or any of its ingredients. notify your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced that type of allergy.

It is not known if Maxidex can cause any defects or harm to an unborn infant. However, do not take Maxidex without your doctor’s permission when you are pregnant.

It is not known whether Maxidex passes into breast milk and to a nursing infant. Do not take Maxidex if you are nursing a child without your doctor’s consent.

Maxidex Intake Guidelines

Maxidex should be used exactly as directed by your doctor. If there are matters that you do not understand, refer to your pharmacist, nurse or physician and ask him or her to explain those matters to you.

Be sure to remove contact lenses before using Maxidex so as not to cause irritation or infection.

Make sure to follow all of your doctor’s advise and instructions when taking Maxidex.

Maxidex Dosage

Dosage of Maxidex should be obtained from your doctor. Dosage may vary from person to person with regards to a variety of factors such as age, severity of condition and others. Do not take in more or less of Maxidex so as not to alter its effects and to prevent overdose.

Maxidex Overdose

If overdose of Maxidex is suspected, immediately flush eye with warm water. Seek immediate medical attention or call poison control. Inform your doctor afterwards.

Maxidex Missed Dose

Doses of Maxidex should not be missed. If a dose is missed, however, take it as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and take the subsequent doses according to schedule. Do not take a double dose of Maxidex unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.

Maxidex Side Effects

Maxidex may have any of the following side effects or allergic reactions:

• Partial loss of vision due to opacity in the lens of the eye known as cataracts
• Stinging on application
• Increased pressure within the eye
• Sensitivity to bright light

If you experience any of these side effects, continue using the product but inform your doctor immediately.

Other side effects may also occur when you take Maxidex. Inform your doctor if you experience anything unusual while or after taking Maxidex.

Maxidex Drug Reactions

Other drugs may interact with Maxidex. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medications other than Maxidex including over the counter prescriptions such as vitamins, minerals, and even herbal products.
