Nalcrom Information

Nalcrom is a medicine based on the active ingredient Sodium Cromoglicate, a substance that effectively acts against the symptoms of mastocytosis – a rare medical condition characterized by the presence of high numbers of mast cells in the patient’s organism. These cells are responsible for releasing certain substances in the organism which lead to the appearance of the characteristic symptoms – nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, itching, rashes and hives, headaches and abdominal pain.

Nalcrom Indications

Your health care professional may decide to prescribe you a treatment course with Nalcrom if you are suffering from food allergies or if you have been diagnosed with mastocytosis; however these are not the only affections that may be treated with this medical product. At times, your prescriber may opt for a Nalcrom therapy in the case of other medical conditions as well. Nalcrom Warnings

Nalcrom Intake Guidelines

The general administration method of Nalcrom requires you to open the recommended number of capsules for one intake, pour the powder in half a glass of hot water and stir until the resulting solution is clear and all the powder has completely dissolved. Fill the rest of the glass with cold water while continuously stirring and drink the entire solution in order to get the full Nalcrom dose. You should not combine this drug with food, fruit juice, milk or other liquids as they may interfere with the drug’s action.

Nalcrom Dosage

The Nalcrom dosage that is typically prescribed in the case of adult patients is of around 200 mg per dose, taken four times per day about half an hour before each meal and before going to bed in the evening. For children the dosage is of 100 mg per dose; however the prescriber may decide to advise the usage of a higher dosage if the symptoms are not under control within 14 to 21 days from the start of the therapy. For children of less than 2 years of age the dosage is determined based on body weight. Generally, a Nalcrom dosage of 20 mg per kg per day is employed, dividing this dosage into four daily intakes.

Your doctor may prescribe you a Nalcrom dosage different than the one that has been presented in the above information as appropriate for your age group. You should only take the medicine dosage that has been prescribed to you by your personal health care provider.

Nalcrom Overdose

At this time, it is not known what the exact symptoms of a Nalcrom overdose are. Nalcrom Missed Dose

Nalcrom Side Effects

One of the most severe side effects that may occur as a result of your Nalcrom therapy is a hypersensitivity reaction to this medicine, or to any of its ingredient substances. If you begin experiencing any of the characteristic signs of an allergic reaction (such as hives, rashes and skin irritation, breathing difficulties, throat, lips, face or tongue swelling) you should stop taking this medicine and immediately seek medical attention by contacting your personal physician or the nearest medical facility.

Other side effects that may occur during your treatment with Nalcrom include headache, nausea, diarrhea, irritability, abdominal pain, general muscle pain or sleeping disorders. If you happen to experience anything unusual during your therapy course you should consult with your personal health care provider.
