Avomine Information

Avomine, with the generic name of Promethegan, is antihistamine that blocks the naturally occurring chemical histamine in the body.

Avomine Indications

Avomine is specially formulated to treat:

• Allergic symptoms / reactions (itching, runny nose; sneezing; itchy/watery eyes; hives; and itchy skin rashes)
• Cause sedation (sleep)
• Assist in controlling postoperative pain
• Control nausea and vomiting (especially after surgery)
• Prevent Motion sickness

Avomine Warnings/Precautions

Before deciding to take Avomine, have a talk with your doctor especially if you are suffering medical conditions such as:

• Epilepsy or other seizure disorders
• Diagnosed with sleep nausea (periods of not breathing during sleep)
• Glaucoma
• Ulcer or obstruction in the stomach
• Bladder problems or difficulty in urinating
• High blood pressure or any type of heart disease
• Liver problems

In any of the cases above, you may not be able to take Avomine. You may also need to undergo special monitoring during the treatment period or may be given dosage adjustments.

Avomine belongs to a class of drugs labeled as FDH Pregnancy Category C. This entails that it is not certain how it may affect an unborn fetus. Should you bepregnant or planning to be, have a talk with your doctor first before taking this drug.

It is not known if Avomine passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding moms are therefore are suggested to see their doctor before taking Avomine.

This medication has not been studied to work for children below two years old of age. Patients over sixty years old may be required a lower dosage as they are more prove to side effects.

Avomine Intake Instructions

Avomine must be taken as directed by your doctor. If there is any instruction that appears unclear to you, ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

Each dose is taken whole with a full glass of water. It is not a stomach irritant so it can be taken on a full or empty stomach.

For syrup:

Use the measuring spoon or cup provided to get the exact dose.

For suppositories:

Ask your doctor, nurse or pharmacist on the proper rectal usage.

Avomine Missed Dose

Unless directed by your doctor, Avomine must not be double dosed. If you happen to miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember as long as it is not almost time for the next scheduled dose. Otherwise, skip missed dose and proceed with the next.

Avomine Overdose

Symptoms of over dosage are the following:

• Drowsiness
• Dizziness
• Dry mouth
• Large pupils
• Flushing
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Difficulty in breathing
• Unconscious

In any of the cases above, seek immediate medical attention.

Avomine Side Effects

Stop intake of Avomine and seek medical help if you feel any of this condition:

• Allergic reaction
• Uncontrollable movements of the eyes, lips, tongue, face, arms, legs
• Yellowing of the skin, eyes
• Abdominal pain

Should you experience of the more likely minor effects below, continue use and see your doctor:

• Dizziness, drowsiness, sleepiness or confusion
• Blurred vision or dry mouth
• Nausea or vomiting
• Increase sensitivity to sunlight

For other symptoms not listed above that are particularly causing discomfort, tell your doctor.

Aciphex Drug Interactions

Inform your doctor before taking Aciphex if you are taking any of the following drugs below:

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

• anxiety or sleep medicines such as alprazolam (Xanax), diazepam (Valium)
• chlordiazepoxide (Librium), temazepam (Restoril), or triazolam (Halcion)
• medications for depression such as amitriptyline (Elavil), doxepin (Sinequan) nortriptyline (Pamelor), fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline (Zoloft), or paroxetine (Paxil)
• narcotics (pain killers) such as: meperidine (Demerol), morphine (MS Contin, MSIR, others), propoxyphene (Darvon, Darvocet), hydrocodone (Lorcet, Vicodin), oxycodone (Percocet, Percodan), fentanyl (Duragesic), and codeine (Fiorinal, Fioricet, Tylenol #3, others)
• other sedatives such as phenobarbital (Solfoton, Luminal), amobarbital (Amytal) and secobarbital (Seconal)
• any other medications that make you feel drowsy, sleepy, or relaxed

Other drugs may also have adverse reactions with Avomine. Have a talk with your doctor before deciding to take other prescribed or over-the-counter medicines.
