ZINCATE

Zincate Information

Zincate is a nutritional supplement available under the form of pills or injection. Zinc is a necessary element for the organism’s normal development and growth, and while most people obtain the necessary zinc quantities from their regular diet, in some cases it needs to be administered to patients under the form of nutritional supplements, either because their regular diet does not contain enough of this element or because, due to certain medical conditions such as kidney, liver, pancreas or intestine diseases, their organism is not able to absorb sufficient quantities of zinc from the food.

Zincate Indications

Zincate is typically prescribed to prevent or treat zinc deficiencies in patients susceptible to this disorder or who are suffering from this affection. This nutritional supplement can also be prescribed as part of the treatment for Wilson’s disease, an affection which makes large quantities of copper accumulate in the patient’s organism. In many cases, this dietary supplement may be prescribed along with the normal treatment for patients suffering from other medical conditions as well, in order to prevent a zinc deficiency due to the treatment or to the affection. If you would like to find out exactly why you have been prescribed this nutritional supplement, it is advised that you consult with the prescribing health care provider.

Zincate Warnings

Zincate, and generally zinc supplements are not recommended for patients that are suffering from a copper deficiency, as they may cause the patient’s condition to become worse. A healthy intake of nutritional elements is highly advised for women that are pregnant or breast feeding, in order to ensure an appropriate intake of vitamins and minerals to the unborn or nursing baby. Thus, adding nutritional supplements to a pregnant or nursing woman’s diet may improve and fortify the baby’s general condition. However it is advised that excessive use of such dietary supplements should be avoided in order to prevent any possible complications.

Zincate is a product that should not be administered to patients that are suffering from an allergy to any of its ingredients.

Zincate Intake Guidelines

Typically, health care providers advise the patients to take the oral Zincate doses within 1 to 2 hours before or after meals. However, if the product causes stomach upset, it is recommended that you use your prescribed pills with food. For further intake guidelines, carefully study the medicine’s label.

Zincate Dosage

The exact Zincate dose may vary from one person to another, depending on several factors. Typically, the average daily dosage employed in zinc deficiency prophylaxis is of 12 to 15 mg for adults (12 mg for females, 15 mg for males), 15 mg for pregnant women, 16 to 19 mg in the case of nursing mothers and 10 mg for children of or over 4 years of age. In the case of infants and children under the age of 4, the dosage may be of 5 to 10 mg daily.

In case Zincate is administered to treat zinc deficiency, the exact dosage will be determined by the prescribing health care professional based on the patient’s age and severity of the condition.

Zincate Overdose

You should always take the Zincate dose that was prescribed to you by your personal health care provider, and you should never double your doses. However, if you have reasons to suspect that you are suffering from a Zincate overdose, you should immediately contact the local poison center or go to the nearest hospital in order to be granted emergency medical attention.

Among the most common symptoms of a Zincate overdose, dizziness, fainting, chest pain, vomiting, jaundice and shortness of breath have been noted.

Zincate Missed Dose

Missing one or several doses of Zincate should not pose any serious threat to your organism, as it may take some time for the organism to get dangerously low on zinc. However, it is recommended that you set up a daily intake schedule for your nutritional supplements in order to prevent missing any doses. You should never take a double dose of Zincate in order to make up for a missed dose, unless your personal health care professional specifically instructs you to do so.

Zincate Side Effects

In rare cases, Zincate may cause some side effects. This is more common in patients who are administered large doses of this nutritional supplement. In such cases the patient may experience chills, fever, nausea, indigestion, unusual weakness or tiredness and / or heartburn. In a number of cases, the patients were presenting ulcers or sores in the throat or mouth.

Other side effects of Zincate that are not listed here may appear as well. If you experience any unusual or unwanted effects while taking this nutritional supplement, it is recommended that you consult with your personal health care provider in order to investigate the cause of the symptoms and decide upon a course of action to be taken.

Zincate Drug Reactions

If you are taking Zincate with food, you should avoid combining it with bran, cereals and whole-grain breads as the zinc may not be absorbed in your organism. The same applies to foods containing fiber or phosphorus. As such, you might want to take the nutritional supplement 2 hours before eating meals containing these foods.

Zincate may lower the effectiveness of copper, phosphorus or iron supplements. As such, it is best that you allow 2 hour intervals to pass between taking these products.

Zincate may also interact with certain drugs. For example, it may lower the effectiveness of Tetracycline. Because of this, it is highly advised that you do not take this nutritional supplement within less than 2 hours from a Tetracycline intake.

There may be other medications, nutritional supplements and / or foods that interact with this product. Your health care provider will be able to provide you with additional information regarding such interactions.
