Batrafen Information

Batrafen, with the generic name of Ciclopirox, has fungicidal action against all relevant pathogens responsible for fungal infections in the nails.

Batrafen Indications

Batrafen is specially formulated to treat fungal infections in the nails as caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, or moulds.

Batrafen Warnings/Precautions

Batrafen belongs to a class of drugs known as FDA Pregnancy Category C. This entails that it is not known how it may affect an unborn child. Should you be pregnant or planning to be, have a talk with your doctor first before using this drug.

It is also not known if Batrafen passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding moms are therefore suggested to see their doctor prior to deciding to use Batrafen.

Batrafen is not recommended for children.

Batrafen Intake Instructions

Batrafen must be used as directed by your doctor. If there is any instruction that appears unclear to you, ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

Below are the guidelines on the proper application of this product:

• When used for the first time, affected nail should be removed using a pair of scissors.
• Roughen remaining diseased nail using a nail file.
• To ensure that the nail is saturated with the active ingredient, Batrafen must be applied to the affected nail thinly every other day of the first month. Application may be reduced 2x weekly in the second month of treatment, and to once a week on the third month onwards.
• Entire coating must be taken off once a week with a nail varnish remover.
• Affected nail should again be removed using a nail file, if possible.
• Re-screw cap properly after used and avoid spillage of solution on the screw head.

Batrafen Missed Dose

Unless directed by your doctor, Batrafen must not be double dosed. If you happen to miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember as long as it is not almost time for the next scheduled dose. Otherwise, skip missed dose and proceed with the next.

Batrafen Overdose

If symptoms of over dosage are suspected, seek proper medical attention.

Batrafen Side Effects

If you notice any adverse reactions or symptoms while under treatment with Batrafen, inform your doctor immediately.
