• Depression or any psychiatric illness
• Kidney or liver disease

Benztropine is classified under FDA Pregnancy Category C. As it is not known if it could harm an unborn baby, it is strongly recommended for pregnant moms to see their doctor before taking this drug.

It is not certain if Benztropine passes into breast milk. Nursing moms are also advised to have a talk with their doctor before deciding to use Benztropine.

Benztropine Intake Instructions

Each dose is taken with a full glass of water on a full stomach so as to lessen the chance of having stomach upset.

Dosage amount per day should not exceed 6 mg.

Benztropine Missed Dose

Tongue, face or hives

• Fast or irregular heartbeat
• Fever
• Decreased sweat production in a hot weather with a feeling of intense heat

In any of the above conditions, quit usage of Benztropine and seek medical help.

Minor side effects expected include:

• Nausea, vomiting, or constipation
• Dry mouth or blurred vision
• Difficulty in urinating

In these cases, inform your doctor and continue use of Benztropine.

Other probable reactions that need medical attention are the following:

• Confusions or hallucinations
• Irritability
• Numbness of the hands or feet

• Phenothiazine such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine), fluphenazine (Prolixin), mesoridazine (Serentil), perphenazine (Trilafon), thioridazine (Mellaril), promazine (Sparine), trifluoperazine (Stelazine) and others
• Antihistamine such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl), chlorpheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton), triprolidine (Actifed), brompheniramine (Dimetapp), clemastine (Tavist) and others
• Amantadine (Symmetrel)
• Digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps)
• Haloperidol (Haldol)
