Aredia Information

Aredia is generically known as Pamidronate Disodium. It is a bone resorption inhibitor.

Aredia Indications

Aredia is prescribed for the treatment of hypercalcemia that is associated with malignancy. Aredia is an effective treatment of hypercalcemia which may involve bone metastases.

Aredia is also used to treat epidermoid or non-epidermoid tumors.

Aredia is also recommended for patients with Paget’s Disease of the bone.

Aredia is also prescribed for the treatment of osteolytic bone metastases of Breast Cancer.

Aredia Warnings

In intravenous administration of Aredia, studies on animals have revealed that nepropathy can occur.

From the same animal studies, it was also found out that when the highest recommended dose was administered, they developed an increase in the level of their BUN creatinine levels and renal tubular nechrosis resulted.

Renal malfunctions may occur in humans when Aredia is taken. Discuss with your doctor first the pros and cons of taking Aredia.

There has been no concrete evidence to prove that Aredia can cause birth defects to the unborn when taken buy pregnant women however, animal studies have let shown that Aredia should not be taken by pregnant women or women who are planning to get pregnant.

Aredia should not also be given to nursing mothers or if it can’t be helped, the mother should consider the odds of breastfeeding first before continuing.

• Pain in the bones and joints
• High blood pressure or hypertension
• Anemia
