This drug is a Category C FDA pregnancy medicine. It has not been clearly determined whether a treatment with this drug during pregnancy could have harmful effects on a growing fetus. If you are pregnant, you should not start taking this medicine without first consulting it with your health care specialist. During your intake of this drug you should use an effective contraceptive method such as condoms or diaphragm. It is known that this medicine’s components are able to pass into the patient’s breast milk, harming a nursing infant. Therefore, if you are currently breast feeding a baby you should not start taking Procardia. Ask your personal doctor for more information. Children and elderly patients are more prone to experiencing this product’s side effects.

An overdose with Procardia should trigger the following symptoms weakness, dizziness, chest pain, fainting, and shortness of breath, an abnormally slow or fast heartbeat, slurred speech, coma, and sometimes even confusion.

Procardia Missed Dose

In order to get the best results from your treatment with this medicine you should try not to miss any of your doses of Procardia. If you forgot to take a dose of Procardia you should use it as soon as you can. If it is time for another prescribed dose, skip the one that you have missed and proceed with your regular treatment. Avoid using double doses of this drug.

Procardia Side Effects

Procardia’s most severe side effects include:

• symptoms of an allergic reaction to this medicine’s components (closing of the throat; difficulty breathing; swelling of the tongue, lips, or face; or sometimes even hives);
• severe fainting or dizziness;
• jaundice;
• psychosis;
• swelling of the patient’s ankles or legs.
